We bought out of our lease after living there 3 months on a year lease. That's how bad it was. The amenities are nice- if you can use them. Lots of gangster types hanging at the pools, store, and play area at all hours. Our apartment faced one of the waterfalls- it had mosquitoes and smelled bad into our apartment until they cleaned it with chlorine the week we moved out after complaining and then it wreaked of chlorine. The office staff likes to argue with tenants- not only did we get yelled at whenever we called for information about our account after we moved, we had previously walked in on a few screaming matches with tenants, one crying not sure why they were being yelled at or why when she paid rent online and was being taken to court for non-payment. Our mailbox was broken into a few times- they acted like it was a regular occurrence. They force you to use a company for the "free internet service" and charge you $30 for crappy cable an any speed upgrades to the internet. We got the expanded paid high-speed service and it was horrible and would kick us off the internet several times a day. Stinks when you are a student and have to retake a test. **The kicker- DON'T follow the instructions the cable/internet company gives you to leave your modem at the apartments when you move out. We just got a bill for a $150 modem. We had a modem and were told we HAD to use the company provided one. Of course it was "lost" and both parties claim they are not responsible and to call the other one. Sounds like a nice way to make an extra $150 to me. Worst 4 months of my life. I say 4 because we moved out after 3 months and the financial ramifications are still happening after 4. My advice- get everything in writing, don't listen to the New West internet/cable company, or save yourself the heartache- don't move here.
Also the free internet is flaky and my $400.00 cable modem has to be reset every 2 weeks, the electrical outlets have the wrong covers on them so all the plugs in my apartment have to be regularly adjusted. even though my roommate moved out 6 months ago they refuse to remove them from the account and continue to charge me for the extra water. the screen doors keep popping off the tracks, and the dining room light socket had previously caught fire and they have not replaced it, the fountains are often dirty and become mosquito breading grounds. now keep in mind I am a married Professional, Helicopter and Airplane pilot and full time student. My life is in order and I pay my bills ahead of time. this complex has potential however they are seriously lacking in poor management and business choices. some problems have been resolved and I will increase stars accordingly..
Walls are super thin. I can hear Andres Cardenas in Apt 1128 blasting gay porn almost every night of the week. The office does not care about noise complaints. Disgusting neighbors=bad apartments. Do not move near apt 1128!!!!!!!!!! UPDATE: Andres Cardenas according to my neighbor is a convicted child molester and not ONE of my neighbors or us have received any kind of notification or warning. Keep your boys away from 1128 this guy could be seriously dangerous.
I love these apartments! Getting through the lease process was easy! They give you everything you need to do and than boom you're in. A woman named Jordan is the one who helped us and she is amazing. Our apartment is way better than even expected! They put in brand new carpet before we moved in, everything was spotless. The cafe here is so convenient and yummy. A lot of perks. Our area of the complex is quiet. We have older neighbors that are so welcoming and sweet. I don't know if we will ever leave! Move in! You'll love it.
I am moving soon. Thank God! After stupidly signing a 16 month lease it is mercifully coming to an end. We rented the apartment sight unseen because of the "special" that was being offered. When we moved in we noted numerous things wrong with the unit that we repeatedly asked to be fixed. I fixed a number of them myself and simply learned to live with the "overspray" on my bathroom mirror that the maintenance crew left behind. Speaking of maintenance, the guys who do the work are decent individuals who do their best to see that the job gets done right. However, the fools who run the complex have 5 maintenance guys for a complex that has over 500 units. Couple the shortage of maintenance workers with a staff that fails to grasp the most basic customer service skills and you have a recipe for a lousy rental experience. Here is one of many examples, our water heater died on December 30 and no one came to look at it until January 3. The staff at the leasing office explained that we simply "fell through the cracks". We fell through the cracks in spite of leaving messages multiple times a day! Final note, the convenience store just got a license to sell alcohol. This last part is simply my opinion, I don't think they should have one. Think twice and three times before renting here. When I see the poor suckers riding around in the golf carts looking at apartments who will soon be signing a lease, I want to yell at them to run, quickly!
