Front office staff is cordial and nice, but completely unable to deal with the many, many apartment problems, including maintenance that very frequently *forgets* to do maintenance orders unless you call the front office and "remind" them. I've had tons of unexpected, inconvenient surprises and a laundry list of incompetence at work, but that would make my review thousands of words, so I'll skip them and get to the most important part. The physical apartment itself is a solid amount of space for the price, but the location/history of break-ins is horrifying, and every time something scary happened, we'd get a letter saying "no one can ensure your safety, we make no efforts to record/detect/report criminal activity". It's like a slap in the face when over and over again there's a horrible crime problem at the apartment, and the only solution is the small number of cameras (no cameras in apartment hallways; only parking deck, front area, and gate), a "courtesy officer" that I've seen twice in my almost 2 years of staying there, and a letter that makes no effort to console its tenants in any way. 1 star.
I moved in to 1660 Peachtree Apts. this August (2010) and was pleased .. initially. The middle of October my car, as well as about 11 others, was broken into as well as two stolen vehicles. I know that things are sometimes out of control of others, but this situation SHOULD have been avoided and has been occurring for the past two years with no changes. I was told there was 24hr security when I signed my lease. The first two months I seen a security officer on a golf cart every night when I returned home late from work (sometimes two am), but as soon as the weather changed the officer was no longer seen. When my car got broken into I was not greeted by ANY member of the 1660 staff for condolences or any other help. I dealt with an officer who was a prick, but that is besides the point. This is not a safe place to live and I don't recommend it.
I HATE LIVING HERE! My water bill has been $70 EVERY MONTH! I live alone and work 40 hours a week...tell me how that makes sense? Someone keyed my car in front of the camera....and they couldnt even pull it up because the cameras are SO cheap they dont have good picture quality. Several cars were broken into for weeks and someone tried kicking in my door. And, today, I come home....going on a date.....AND THE WATER IS OUT IN THE ENTIRE COMPLEX! Not to mention the awful traffic.........it is SO hard getting in and out of this place. JUST SAY NO. I have lived here for two years only because my school was next door. The cabinets are cheap and fall apart, the carpets stink, and the windows are SOOOOO poorly insulated that the winter wind blows through the windows so hard....I feel like i may as well just have my windows open. THIS PLACE IS AWFUL!
First the pluses, because they are so very few... location. Very close to midtown, a few venues and transportation options. Now the negatives... these folks are con-men and shamsters of epic proportions. You will see three prices when contacting them. The first is the price on their website, the next is their current "special" and the third is the price they will give you on the phone. The actual price will not resemble ANY of these and will average significantly higher. You will get some song and dance about prices changing daily but in truth, it is more likely hourly and at whim. If this is the level of professionalism and trust they show BEFORE they have your money, just stop and think what will happen when they have you roped into a lease. I did.
