Lived at Provence for 7 months in 2013... and I loved every minute of it. I had a one bedroom apartment on the fourth floor. I had a fantastic view -- could literally see Mystic Lake Casino from my deck! Loved the tray ceilings. The layout of my one bedroom was spacious, clean... full size washer/dryer, decent dishwasher, great water pressure, decent amount of storage (IE: walk in closet, pantry, cupboards) although I did rent a storage space.... I did end up keeping my bike in that locker as I didn't want it sitting out in the garage. The garage was ok - it is a shared space, so I made sure to lock my car... but overall it felt safe. The pool, gym and tanning bed were absolutely fantastic - I miss them!!! Staff was decent and always available - they were always good about notifying residents of when cars had to be moved, pool open/close, etc. And probably one of my favorite/quirky things about Provence -- LOVED the free coffee in the AM! If I had to list some negatives.... it is a bit on the pricey side... I was paying about $300 over what I would for other one bedroom apartments in the area. (Although in my mind, it was worth it!) Living on the fourth floor, my apartment was very quiet - which is great, as I work overnights... so quiet was extremely important. However when I had been in apartments on lower floors, there was quite a bit of sound from the apartments above. Speaking of being on the top floor... there are no central stairs, so people on the second floor also had to use the elevators.... normally not an issue -- except for the elevators are slow. I also like to sleep with my windows open -- and being right off of County Rd 5 -- it is VERY noisy, especially in the early hours of the morning... Ames Construction and a garbage company are down the road a ways, so all of their trucks are rolling by at 4AM. Although I would say that you couldn't hear them at all when the windows were shut. And last but not least... for the 1711 building, there is little to no parking for guests. Overall, fantastic experience. Miss the view, the gym, the coffee, the pool.... I miss a lot about it! Would definitely recommend living there!
Before moving into this place please be aware of the following: In most apartments when you move in you pay your security deposit with the thought of getting it back when you move out...Well if you are an average person be aware that you probably wont be getting your deposit back when moving out of Provence. If you have a few stains in your carpet,as most people do with normal wear and tear, you will most likely be charged over $100 to have them removed. As far as vertical blinds go, if you have a slight bend in a few of them, be prepared to pay $10 for EACH vane. As far as SAFETY goes, I had my $300 moutain bike stolen even though it was locked up in a bike rack AND in the "secure" access underground parking. This management company was greedy from the second we moved in to the second we checked out. Nice apartment, but very hard management to deal with. I guess I shouldve expected this in the twin cities.
