I called Riverwalk home from July of 2013 through December 2014, and I couldn't be happier with the experience. The staff is outstanding in every way. Bart, the property manager, in particular is an outstanding individual who places a great deal of emphases on solving problems for his residents. We had some problems with move in, and things were addressed promptly and openly. Perks of this property include free high speed internet (normally clocked in around 12.5 mps at 8 pm), a safe community, ample parking, fitness room with 24/7 access, and package holding at the front desk. I also enjoyed being about 5 minutes from I-65, downtown Lafayette, or Purdue. As a young professional new to the Lafayette area, they delivered an outstanding experience. I would gladly move into Riverwalk again should I ever have a roommate again.
I absolutely LOVE River Walk and already renewed my lease. The manager, girls in the office, and maintenance are all AMAZING. They knew my name before I even moved in and maintenance often comes the same day the request was put in. The apartments are really nice and mine was very clean when I moved in (unlike some of my other apartments in the past). I would highly recommend anyone and everyone to check out the property!
Lived here for a year while attending Purdue University. The management was fantastic and the apartments were amazing. The rent was also very reasonable. If you are attending Purdue, the apartment is right on a bus route to campus however can be inconvenient living here if you do not have a car.
Lived at Riverwalk Apartments for two and a half years. It was a great place for a graduate student. I'd highly recommend it. The management in the last year and a half has been excellent. They are highly responsive and very clear with expectations and guidelines. The facilities are older, but well-maintained. The current management has been actively improving them, remodeling apartments and adding amenities. There is an on-site clubhouse with a gym (cardio machines, weight sets). They also have access to a pool off-site in the summers. The apartments are far enough away from Purdue's campus to qualify for a C-lot permit. There's also a bus line that stops right in front of the complex. The bus often runs late and isn't super reliable, but that's not Riverwalk's fault. Otherwise it's highly accessible. As far as safety, I had no concerns. It's relatively isolated from other residences in Lafayette. Several of my female colleagues said that my apartment was in the "rough neck of the woods", but they were comparing it to campus and/or West Lafayette. Having lived in a city previously, there's not even a comparison. There's a mix of residents -- families, couples, students. The complex has become much safer in the last year and a half (as opposed to two years ago). All in all, rent was competitive with other complexes and it worked for me during the time I was in Indiana.
My wife and I have lived here for almost 2 years now and even had a baby during that time. The changes that the new management has employed have been phenomenal. The staff personally remembers me by name every time I come in to pay rent. They go out of their way to ask if there's anything they can do to make us more comfortable and at home. Our facilities are clean and well-maintained. The few maintenance requests that we have had in our time here have ALL been handled that day. One of those was our dryer breaking which they came THAT DAY and gave us a NEW ONE. We really feel cared for here. As long as our job is in this area, we plan on staying here. The facilities have improved so much since the old management. I feel like every request and communication is taken very seriously by the entire staff at Riverwalk. Our rent has not gone up at all in my time here, in fact it went DOWN for this new lease. So, the place has improved drastically with new management and yet the rent is cheaper than before. I'll also briefly comment on how this is both a student-friendly and family-friendly community. The management has some sort of open house at the club house almost monthly, often with free food or giveaways. Additionally, the clubhouse is stocked with FREE coffee 24/7. They are incredibly generous. After having bad experiences in my past with apartments on the west side who just wanted to get more money and thought about you as just a number, this is such a refreshing change! I think that if you came and asked any resident here you would get a similar response. I am very impressed that they even go to the extent of keeping the grounds clean. As I leave for work in the morning, I am often surprised to see the maintenance crew up early cleaning the parking lot and sidewalks. Riverwalk has my full recommendation based upon how they have treated us!
