Living at Mariner Bay was a great overall experience. That staff is great and friendly, always willing to help. The facilities are very well maintained and any issue I had with my apartment was resolved almost immediately. The surrounding area is great, and honestly made me pretty lazy as I could just walk over to Target/Whole Foods any time I needed to. Mariner Bay is easily the best run, nicest apartment complex I've lived in. That said, there are a few negatives. The elevators are painfully slow, and there are only two of them. When a new resident is moving in or someone is moving out, one of the two elevators will be taken out of commission for their move leaving only a single elevator servicing an 11 floor building. Luckily I was on the third floor so I could just as easily take the stairs, I could see this being extremely annoying if you are on one of the upper levels and in a hurry. One of the residents who lived above me would drop their cigarettes down onto my balcony. Since it's an 11 floor building there was no real way of telling which resident this was; however, I see this as more of a "people can be jerks" problem than a Mariner Bay or Bozzuto (the management company) problem. The last, and possibly biggest issue I have is after a year of living there they WILL raise your already high rent. They will patronize you and say things like "we love having you here," but, in the end they take advantage of the fact that it's probably easier for you to pay up than move... I chose to move. In talking to other residents this rent hike will range anywhere from $150-250 a month and it WILL happen. In reading about other properties managed by Bozzuto it seems that this is a common practice of theirs, raising your rent each year until they inevitably force you out.
