We have lived at the Lofts for the past two years and we couldn't have had a better place to live. The building is so unique and the common areas are wonderfully maintained. Close to the Kendall t-stop, very convenient! The staff at Lofts have been amazing in every way and have taken care of everything we've needed. If you're looking for a place to call home, you can't go wrong here.
The location and apartments are pretty good, my unit in particular is very spacious at a fair price point for the market. About 7-8 minute walk to the redline and plenty of restaurants around. The rest of the amenities are pretty much comparable to any other building in the area. your gym, laundry, garage etc. The walls however are paper thin, you basically have to be dead quiet for anyone to not notice. Great location and place overall but your lifestyle will suffer if you enjoy listening to music or watching movies occasionally so keep that in mind. It might not work out for us past our lease because of this particular reason. (hence the 4 stars). Other than that though, one would like living here.
I've lived at over 10 different condos and had a wide range of experiences - hands down living at The Lofts at Kendall Square for the past ~2 years has been exceptional. GREAT LOCATION & UNIQUE BUILDLING: The location of being in the epicenter of the emerging Boston technology and biopharma, the uniqueness of the of the beautifully restored manufacturing building, and the luxury apartment with sprawling 15' foot windows, exposed turn-of-the century beams, hardwood floors and modern granite kitchen and bathroom are what initially drove me to rent at The Lofts (vs. other similarity priced 'luxury apartments' within the area).... BEST-IN-CLASS MANAGEMENT & SERVICE: The management, staff and service team are what drove me to extend my initial short term lease and are what truly made the last two years of my life truly feel special, my apartment being the first that I truly considered 'HOME'. The management team lead by Tim and Kelly are truly amazing - always friendly, always accommodating, consistently going above and beyond: from accommodating an admittedly higher than average number of package deliveries, to having an extra set of keys provided in realtime to helping me find last-minute garage parking in the middle of Boston's snowiest winters - the examples of consistently over-delivering are endless. The service team lead by Rich is equally best-in-class. Always polite, professional and extremely responsive, Rich and his team ensure that the building and residences are in perfect condition. The apartment is extremely well maintained and I had no major issues, but the few times I needed to request 'service to have a bulb replaced, to borrow a ladder or have a closet door put back on tracks - I was shocked by how fast the request was fulfilled. Rich's team are also worth applaud: everything always looks perfect, but behind the scenes the trash is being removed before I wake up, the windows washed, the floor in the lobby polished: Impressive. SUMMARY: I would strongly encourage anyone looking for an apartment in this area to visit The Lofts at Kendall Square- you won't be disappointed.
We lived here for about a year before we moved for a job change. When a better position here in Cambridge came up we immediately called to see what was available in our old building. It just has so much character with exposed beams, exposed bricks etc. The staff are fantastic and we will be living here for a long time to come.
We lived there for two years (2008-2010) and the management is great. Tthey always fixed things immediately, and they still call me when when I have packages that are delivered there, even though I moved out a while ago. It's a real loft in the sense that the building used to be a factory. The ceilings are super-high. Some people may not like the fact that the building is huge, but it was great for us and our kids in the winter. Taking the walk to the mailbox was a fun activity for our four-year-old. There are a mix of folks in the building, including a few families, students, and lots of professionals sharing apartments.
The prices are quite steep, but I guess that's what you pay in the neighborhood.
