Beth russel is ruthless ! Watch out people this place trys to take you to the cleaners . The place looks nice but do not be fooled. Read these reviews even the long ones cuz they are true over priced lawn people every tuesday for hours with blowers. Are hot and cold water never worked for a year they tried to fix it . O yes take pics of everything . The handyman John is really cool that is the one of the only good thing about the place and the location .!
*The Good-ish: While the rent is sort of pricey for what you get, we lived in a partially converted apartment in a reasonably quiet part of the complex. We were lucky not to have upstairs or downstairs neighbors and one quiet woman on one side. The windows were very old, and not remotely sound blocking, but this was really only a problem on the days the landscapers used their leaf blowers for several hours at a time. The door and weatherstripping were terrible at blocking sound, and every time our neighbor came home or left, we could hear her not only open the door (sounding like it was our own), but also each time she slammed it closed (the weatherstripping made the doors difficult to open and close). Staff was always very nice and friendly, especially John, the maintenance man. The location is gorgeous; located in the 'sunbelt'. Access to MPC campus, library and new stadium. Lots of great birds. Including hummingbirds. *The Bad (and Ugly): SEVEN weeks and 3 phone calls after moving out, we were finally forced to make a trip -- completely out of the way -- into Monterey to retrieve our security deposit refund. Like others have said, they tried to take us for EVERYTHING they could. Even though they paint every time a tenant moves out, since they could no longer get the color used in our unit, they tried to charge us for the paint and painter! Also, I am slightly OCD when it comes to cleaning and can't stand for anyone to think I'm not clean and tidy. So, when I move out of a rental, you can believe it is C-L-E-A-N. Footprints tried to charge us for professional cleaning. Did I mention I had to clean when I moved in? There was food caked under the lid of the stove and the refrigerator had not been wiped out. There were chunks of paper (jar labels?) in the dishwasher and mildew around the edge. Oh, and speaking of mildew, the vent fan in the bathroom was so terribly inadequate (no window). Within the first week of us both showering, constellations of mildew began to form all over the ceiling and walls. Horrified, I went to the leasing office to ask if they could maybe use a mildew resistant paint or fix the fan, only to be told that it happens in all of the bathrooms and that she'd ask someone else what they use to clean it and let me know. No, I'm serious. Lysol Mold and Mildew remover works well, FYI. *Moral: Versus everything else there is in Monterey, this is still one of the nicest complexes. ASK FOR A MOVE-OUT WALK THROUGH. Take photos when you move in and after you clean!!
This is a great place to live. We lived in a completely remodeled apartment and it was so nice. The community is very quite as well. It is very pricey, but we found that the other two apartments right by there were about the same price and not nearly as nice. Would definitely recommend this apartment.
