I lived there for 5 years with my brother and sister and while this is a great location in terms of work and school, the rent kept rising every year so when we finally decided to move, they overcharged us in fees that were completely unjustified claiming that we returned the keys late when I had dropped them in their drop box on the move out date like they had suggested. I haven't even talked about the mold issue that they never resolved in our apartment, because according to one of their workers "The building is just old and you guys just have make sure to air the rooms out". My advice is don't ever move in this place, but if you have no other choice, make sure you ALWAYS get everything in writing, because they will portray you as a liar even when they are the ones who won't follow through with their words...
We like it here, nice setting, and very convenient to everything. The management has been very good. Yes, they do ask you for a lot of information when you apply. We thought that was great, as shows they care who lives here. They community here seems to be of very friendly and nice people. They have full time maintenance men. We have had a couple small maintenance issues that were fixed within 24 hours - wow! We like it and plan on staying a while.
I have lived in these apartments for 4 months now and I love the management. They are very attentive and fix issues within two days of the maintenance request being submitted, most of the time the day off. The apartments are very quiet and sit on several bus lines that go straight downtown. My apartment is older though (but there are newer units which I hope to get into when my lease is up), so it has some issues, such as the stove being button operated, which makes cooking an adventure; and the heaters are old floor heaters, which work fine but do not seem energy efficient. The rent is decent considering how close it is to everything, and how safe the area is.
My husband and I were very pleased with Shadow Hills Apartments. The only reason they did not get 5 stars was the noisy floors from the apartment above. Management - very friendly and quick to respond. The management office is open late and well staffed so they are available when you need them. We had a floor board heater out and they replaced it with a new heater within 3 days, and it would have been sooner if they didn't have to order the part. Complex - the grounds are very well maintained and kept clean. The fitness center, which is well equipped, is cleaned often and has newer equipment. If I were to move there again, I would ask for an upper floor apartment. The apartments on the lower floor have a lot of noise from people walking above. I could not hear my neighbors to the right and left, which was nice. Parking - Great parking. Never had a hard time finding space. All in all, we would move there again if we needed another apartment.
The managements are really bad and unprofessional. They talked with us for almost two weeks and they asked for something new to prove every other day. Finally, they asked considerable deposit while my history is clean, i didn't have even one month delay for my previous rents and my salary is good enough. Btw, They asked me to call screening company and provide the verification letter for social security while they charged me 40 bucks for doing that .
