I vowed I would write a review after so little helpful reviews while trying to find a place. I've been here a year, and management has actually changed. Both times everything was great. After 3-4 weeks of my dryer not working correctly (during which they gave me keys to a demo unit to do laundry in) they bought me a brand new full size stacking unit. Management almost always comes within a day, the people in the front office are very helpful and friendly. Some of the things I see people complaining about in other reviews can be fixed by three things: not whining and complaining about every little thing, understanding this is an apartment complex, and being a decent human being. The atmosphere is great, and outside area is beautiful despite being next to a main road.
Maintenance is always quick and finished in a timely manner. The women in the office are always helpful and nice. Neighbors are friendly. The grounds are well maintained. Overall I'm satisfied 6 months after having moved here at Island Club.
This place is excellent!! I have been nothing but pleased with Island Club. Great friendly atmosphere especially if you are a dog owner. There is unlimited outdoor space for walking and playing. Lots of ponds and trees if you enjoy spending time outside and they just installed cookout areas with grills and picnic tables throughout the apartment complex. I wish I didn't have to relocate for work; sad to move out.
The maintenance here is really awful. I moved in 2 weeks ago and didn't have any hot water. Since I had moved in on a Saturday, I didn't notice this problem till Sunday. Maintenance isn't open on Sundays so I called the emergency service number. Never heard back. Monday came, and still never heard back. Keep in mind, I had also put in a service request online. Finally Tuesday came and I had to call in and talk to someone to finally get hot water! The washer/dryer that they had provided me with has sooooo many problems and still going on over 2 weeks, not fixed. Put in a service request because the washer was leaking all over the carpet and then into the bedroom as well. It created this HUGE sopping wet mess that I had to hop over to get from the bedroom to the rest of the apartment. It took a week to get someone to come over and look at it. When maintenance came they said they need to have their supervisor look at the washer because he didn't specialize in space-saving washer/dryer units. I was told that he would come on Monday to take a look at it along with the extraction company to extract all the water from the carpet. The extraction company was supposed to come around 3 and didn't show up until after 7, and I had the pleasure of listening to this big fan blowing out cold air the whole night. GREAT! Now I had to turn the heat up even more with this 10 degree weather! Monday came and no one had come out. I called the office, no one came. I went into the office, no one came. I called the office at 5 (when maintenance is off) and let them know that no one had showed up. The receptionist told me that a part needed to be ordered for the repair. How in the world would they know if no one came to look at it? Tuesday came and didn't hear anything. Wednesday came and I still didn't hear anything, so I called into the office. They still hadn't ordered the part! Finally I got a call back later that day saying that he ordered the part and could pick it up tomorrow, that way it could be fixed Thursday. Thursday came, and nothing. Friday, finally I came home from work, and saw that a paper was on the washer. There was no useful information on that paper. Nothing telling me what they did, or if anything was fixed. I logged into the Island Club website and it said that it was fixed! Finally, I can do laundry. Oh....but wait. Still not fixed. Doesn't surprise me, since no one had even come to look at washer! I cannot be more regretful about moving into this apartment complex. And to think, I have to live here for another year. 11/25/14 Update - Washer has finally been fixed. After 9 months of talking to the staff, putting in multiple requests over and over again, it simply took my presence for the maintenance to find out what was wrong. My rent for this 600 sqft apartment with no upgradable features, stained carpet, leaking toilet, stained bathtub, hole in the bedroom door, wall crumbling, gem costs me $651. That is rent alone. Then they tack on the pet fee $30, required internet $35, pest control $10.99, service administration fee $4.01, trash pick up $19.88, water service $11.05, sewer service $15.29, and common electric $7.91. Good thing I won't be renewing my lease because they want to up the rent to $780.87 for a 12 month renewal and a SHOCKING $1,008.87 for month to month. I really hope people read the reviews before they rent at the Island Club. I don't wish this awful experience on anyone!
Honestly, I feel bad for those who had bad experiences. The place has been great. I believe the price is too high but, nothing I can do about that. Maintenance has been very quick. Sometimes, not fixed right the first time, but that technician was let go. I would recommend it. I stayed for 2 years. Left because of price increase.
