I made a deal with Grant on a Vespa this past March and also met the owner Johnny when I went to finish up my paperwork. They were both great to deal with. I would love this place even more if it were closer to the city or northside where I live but I can't do anything about that. The showroom is great. I didn't expect it to be put together so well when I saw it from the outside. It's an older building, but on the inside it's exactly what a bike shop should look like. I will be back next spring to add another Italian to the stable.
I have had the pleasure of going to Motoworks Chicago and the experience was awesome. Craig was so informative on everything I needed and wanted. I purchased a Scala Rider communication system, bike cover, and cell phone mount. All with easy installation and very well instructed on making the right choice in buying for your bike. The entire staff was so kind and smiled back with welcoming arms; I wish I could say the same for Yamaha but their key member was d routed by a bunch of rude workers. I recommend Motorworks Chicago to all who are in search of a bike/accessories. All the 1 star reviews below are just crab apples or not even real. Thanks Motoworks Chicago!!!
Long story short. They've done work on my bike multiple times. This past winter they did some work and supposedly put a new battery in the bike. Battery never works to start it (even the day I picked it up). Pete in service said to "go on a long ride". But I have to carry jumper cables everywhere. Called four times. Twice they said they would come pick it up and then never called me back. Clutch cable broke after just a couple rides. Witch is why I can't drive it to the shop.
I have yet to buy an actual bike here, but the new Ducati Scrambler is coming out soon, so you never know... I have had my bikes serviced here, bought gear here, met most of the staff, front of the house and back and they are all terrific. My only regret is that I didn't find them sooner. I have gone on organized rides with Johnny and some of his crew and met some great people at the shop and connected to it. Everybody is so personable and helpful and I am always looking forward to the next time I will get to chat with one of them. Great shop, great folks and great service!
Well, I've been to the shop a few times to gets parts for my 91 GS, and it was always great service. Today I went there to talk about a restoration project I was doing. Wanted to see how, or where they might want to get involved? I had a great conversation with Steve Strickland, who I've heard nothing but good things. The biggest compliment I would throw his way is that he's...."just a good guy, a bike guy". He paused during his busy schedule to talk with me about my project, and I mean really talked me. It felt like he was as excited as I was, like he was doing this kind of job for the first time, which is far from the case. So, Thanks Motorworks and Thanks Steve. Keep building on that great biker, karma, community you've got going!! Pat
