I've been living here for 8 months and absolutely love it! The appliances, carpet, and paint are all top-notch. I saw a bug in my apartment for the very first time last night which is incredible to me considering other places I've lived where ants or spiders are considered your roommates. -The maintenance staff is very quick and accommodating. -The location is great and super close to the freeway without having any freeway noise. -The amenities including the gym and pools are well maintained. -I don't know about other buildings but at least in my building, it's always very quiet and people are respectful about not blaring music or using their dryer at 2 am. -All of the staff are really friendly and helpful As a young, professional woman I feel safe and at home. It's well worth the price and everyone who comes to my place agrees that it's a clean, beautiful sanctuary.
I've lived here for over 2 years. I would not recommend it. The staff turnover rate is astounding.a hey told me one thing to get me to sign a lease then it was completeky the opposite after I moved in. They don't tell the truth. Period! Like all big corporations I guess, this one is only concerned with the bottom line and will tell the tenants whatever they want to hear to keep them until they raise the rent $300 at renewal times. There have been numerous break-ins both to the gym and onto the balconies to steal bikes etc. Security is a joke as they only do drive by's! The quality of construction is poor at best. The roofs leak when it rains. You can almost hear the upstairs neighbor breathe the floors are so thin. One good thing is the wildlife that surrounds this complex. Wild turkeys and deer are everywhere. Birds and critters-coyotes etc. so if you are an animal lover it's great.
The apartment itself was very nice quality (3rd floor). The bath and shower pressure was decent. The apartment was very clean with a well laid out floor plan. The refrigerator in the suite had a 1.5 inch opening in the magnetic sealing of part of the door, I had to jerry rig something as I was only going be in the place for a few months and wasn't feeling up to dealing with the tree huggers. There was quite a bit of construction going on while I was there, so parking totally SUCKED. You have to pay extra to park under the apartment complex where the only assigned parking was. The rest of us had to hunt for a place upon each return home, not too cool. Managers and office staff seemed like goofy tree hugger types.
I actually live here at the Highlands of Marin. It is just like any other apartment complex, they all have their own problems. Specifically here, management is owned by a corporate giant UDR. That said, they employ a young team. I am not sure if any of them have actually finished college. Not that makes a difference but they are money driven - the higher the number of move-ins the more money that they will be able to take home to their significant others. To address some of the other comments that their staff lies - I would not say lie, maybe they don't tell you all that is really going on. Construction will not be done for atleast another 7-8 months maybe a year...but you can deal with that. The manager lives on site, she tries hard but she is overworked and doesn't care about the tenants. I spoke to another tenant who worked with her very closely and said that she would be quitting soon because she hates what she is doing. I have called the office to talk to her and she never returns phone calls. If you moved in with a special - which I did, always try and negotiate with them. I worked with Kim. All I have to say about her is that she will say anything to get a deposit from you and I mean anything. I was a little unsure about living here. Moving is not the most pleasant thing and she even helped with my furniture rental. My suggestion live someplace else. They need you to live there. Atleast that is what I could tell from Kim's attitude. If the employees are not happy, I can guarantee the tenant's here are unhappy. I spoke to one woman who had her car broken into, she is moving out - she hates this place. Finally, all this about hidden fees. I just got my bill, the hidden fees are associated with the water, trash and etc. For 2 people, they billed me $178 for one month...I am speaking to my attorney now, to see if this lease can be broken. From the lies to the overbilling to the employees lack of education....I am leaving.
Very expensive, Ok customer service and ok repair people/time.
