First and Foremost: Skye Elkins has really beautiful kids and is a probably a wonderful mother yet: a horrible manager! Champions Park Apartments have been a really bad experience for me and my family. I am a single mother of two wonderful daughters. I thought the manager of Greystar management for this community would understand since she also has children: black & mixed to be exact. Instead, the office never took my complaint seriously and steadily pretend to resolve noise issues from neighbors and pets. I and my family could only ignore the situation for so long. We no longer reside in this community. Previously, we lived in this community 3-5 years ago and decided to come back. There was a management company called: Archstone manages the Champions Park Community back in 2005-2009. God bless their souls! They were excellent at resolving any and all issues up to making sure their stuff was well dressed, well-respectful, and spoke when greeted. Seriously, they really made you want to live at Champions Park forever. That manager they call Skye Elkins simply sits on her big fat ghetto butt and does not care about resolving any issues. Yes, I said ghetto butt because it is noticeably bigger. All of the male staff members are always surrounding her instead of doing their job of fixing things. Maybe, that is why the Champions Park Community is going downhill? She slightly rolls her eyes whenever someone reports a problem. I witnessed this on over 3 occasions while entering the main office. Her staff follows in her footsteps-AS THEY SHOULD. Skye prides herself on training, marketing, and reporting, but how can she train someone to be a professional when she remains an untrained unprofessional? ATTENTION TO ALL FUTURE TENANTS: both single parents, married, bachelors, and bachelorettes; give yourself a good 3 months before your lease ends to look for a good apartment meaning- talking with local tenants upon entering an apartment community instead of going straight to the community’s office. Tenants will never lie unless their leasing office unethically included a Non-Disclosure or Misrepresentation agreement into their initial or lease renewal paperwork. Managers are like public servants. Information about their company and themselves can become a matter of public record whenever they are not providing services and in breach of their charter. Skye-Honey-wake up! Your tenants are suffering right under your nose. Get up and go for a full drive through of the neighborhood which you manage. Talk to random tenants and see what they would like to see changed and what problems they are having. Finally, you will have set the most critical part of managerial leadership: “Leading by Example”. Maybe, you will have better tenant retention without the need to lie to future prospects.
Let me start by saying that I lived here 5 years ago. Same EXACT apartment. I came back because I remembered my experience being pleasant. Apparently a LOT changes in 5 years....Except for the actual apartments. They have signs out that say they are newly renovated, not the case. EVERYTHING is the same as when I was here 5 years ago...even the dents in the front of the refrigerator. No big deal though, I liked the layout of the place before, so it doesn't need to be newly renovated. Management is completely incompetent, and rude! OH MY GOD are they rude. Every problem I had was greeted with attitude. When I signed the lease I was told I wouldn't need proof of income because of my credit, then the day I came to get my keys they told me I did, so I got it, and then what I had wasn't good enough. After some negotiating the manager agreed to let me rent, even though it was against policy (I had no where else to go, all my shit was packed up and ready to be unloaded!). I had my rent set up for automatic payments, but they only took out part of the amount they were supposed to, that was somehow MY fault. When I went in with a maintenance problem that had yet to be resolved, they pushed me to the back of the line....When I finally had enough and decided I didn't want to live here anymore, I was once again greeted with attitude. I told Mr. Arrogance that I wanted to break the lease, to which he ARGUED that it was twice the amount and it had been that way for a long time....turns out it was only a month that it had been raised and my contract that I had him pull proved otherwise. No "Sorry, I was wrong, my mistake" just a "well if that's what you want to do"...attitude. Maintenance is also incompetent, but much more pleasant than management. I have had 3 problems recur multiple times in the few short months that I have been back. Each time they promise it is resolved and each time it comes back. The neighbors are, for the most part, decent. But when rent is so insanely high, it's hard for trashy people to live here, which I guess is probably the ONLY benefit of the ridiculously overpriced crap-shoot. My advice.....go somewhere else!
Let's start this off right. I moved in and the fire place didn't work, nor did anyone try to fix it. My dog is not allowed on the balcony because people like to make her bark, which isn't allowed(I've had a ridiculous amount of trouble having a dog with shitty neighbors) my car got hit by a truck and the office didn't care one bit. My front window got broken with a rock, once again no call back from the office(I called corporate and got an immediate response) I've lived here for 6 months and it has been a terrible experience. People randomly knock on my door to see if they can come in and snoop around, lazy teenagers roam the premises all day and night. The "security guy" can never be found. I can't stand that the pool is never clean and the hottub smells like wet dog mixed with bleach. Sorry it's so long, I could keep going on:)
Please do not move into these apartments. The people in the office are shady, they will charge you whatever they feel like, especially if you have any kind of credit on your account. They make up charges so that you can't claim a credit (even if it's less than $10, pathetic). Instead of fixing our heater that had frozen pipes, they stuck a bucket under to catch the water from the drain. What?? And they don't treat their residents the same. If they like you, you're gold. If they don't like you, you're up s*** creek. They claim to treat every resident equally but I proved to the manager herself that they don't. Plus their apartments are waaaaaaaay overpriced. Save yourself a huge headache and move somewhere else. You'll regret it if you move to Champions Park.
Skye and Morgan at the office have been great during my lease renewal process. I've lived in Champions Park for 5 years now and though I can agree that the new Greystar Management company is not as stellar as Archstone, that has absolutely NOTHING to do with Skye, Morgan, or the other employees in the office. Skye and Morgan both were an integral part in helping me to keep Champions Park as my home and without their help and follow through I would not be renewing my lease. THIS 4 STAR review is intended for Skye and Morgan and the team at Champions Park. Thanks for your help and thanks for working to keep me as a resident, yet again! I sincerely appreciate you.
