UPDATE (as of 02/01/16) - The elevators have permits in them with dates that expired on 5/27/15. I'm not sure if that's why they continuously break down but I definitely think it needs to be looked into... Below I stated that our neighbors(and friends) who referred us to Kelvin got stuck in the elevator for over two hours a couple months back... I received a response back from our complex saying it was caused by the power outage (which we understand) but that was not the point... The elevators should have an Emergency release and no one should ever be trapped in an elevator, regardless of a power outage. Even the firemen who showed up were surprised that they could not get into the elevator... NOW RECENTLY our own roommates got stuck for about thirty minutes. It's just unacceptable. I don't even use the elevators anymore because I'm nervous they are unsafe. In the past couple weeks there were signs on the doors saying they were out of service for maintenance... Also, living on the 2nd floor is difficult because we have people above us and below us. We don't hear much from the people below, but our neighbors upstairs always sound like a stampede and there is nothing we can do about it. I believe the building is just built cheaply so the floors, walls, etc are very thin. Also, the jacuzzi is ice cold. Maybe I'm the blonde that doesn't know how to turn on the heater for it, but usually jacuzzi's are kept warm (at least from my past experience in renting). I sound like a nagger so I'll talk about the POSITIVES: We love our new toilet they installed (ECO friendly) and we appreciate our spacious kitchen and Master bedroom. All appliances work great so no complaints there. Regards, Jamie Smith (02/01/16) Past review: We like our house but are unhappy that our neighbors and friends got stuck in the elevator for over 2 hours the other night. The elevator was not properly equipped for them to escape. The fire department arrived and tried their hardest to get them out but were unsuccessful. They didn't get out of the elevator until the power came back on. So they sat in a dark elevator for 2 hours... Now we are afraid to take the elevator and take the stairs instead. The elevators should be properly equipped for an emergency like this... What if the person inside were pregnant? Or even suffered from anxiety or claustrophobia? I have anxiety and claustrophobia and I would have had a mental break down. It's just not okay.
I am both an employee and resident, and I love living at Kelvin Court. It is so conveniently located near great shops and restaurants, without being on a busy road. My apartment is beautiful and the whole community is well taken care of.
I love Kelvin Court Apartments. It's my home. The property is beautiful & the leasing staff is amazing. They care about their residents & we care about them.
This apartment complex is great. It is VERY quiet, I am a graduate student and I moved here so I would be able to study and it is perfect. The management has been nothing but exceptional and has fixed/taken care of any minor issue within an hour or two. Parking is easy and has not been a problem. The location is great, it is very close to The District, which has every place imaginable. Most of the ratings confuse Kelvin Court, which is at this address, with some other crappy apartment complex next door so I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a great place to live.
Here are lists of my comments and complaints. A. 12 months lease became 13 months. Was not explained at the signing of the contract. B. Lots of imperfect showing that the apartment was on a rush for complete so people can move in. C. Renting price is WAY too high. D. Lots of ants, loud noise, if you are on the first floor, every after rain, there are lots of worm coming on your backyard and it really smelled disgusting. Requested for someone to clean it or chemical to prevent the creatures from coming out, they said that there is nothing they can do about it. F. As everyone knows, the Property Manager is rude, unfriendly, hard to communite, and not very reasonable. I suggested that the owner needs to find and improve the management style, otherwise no one will like to live here. G. The entertainment room was promised to be done early October of 2008, and it still have not been completed a year later.....STILL UNDER CONSTRUCTION. H. I like to over emphasize that the apartment does looks gorgious from the outside, but what lies beneath is full of unfinished business. What I mean is that, holds, cracks, seams, chips, stains, and overall not very cleans. I. My rent was supposed to be $1984, but later was told that it was $1985. I showed them the paper but they did not care. J. And so on. My suggestions for those who are wondering about Alta Court, I would like suggest that you should look at other community. This one, in my opinion, I will not recommended anyone. Poor management and nasty place to be in. As I can see, more people are moving out rather than moving in here. Think about it before you decide. If you decide to live here, ensure that you ask all the necessary questions, espeically your 12 months lease.
