I moved in in 2012 while still on active duty. The apartments were the westridges and the staff was fantastic and easy to work with. Then came the change. JRK properties took control and decided to rape everyone's rent here. I have outdated appliances but get charged for an upgraded price. When it was the Westridge I received a courtesy notice my lease was ending. JRK decided not to do that and charge 1900.00 dollars for me to move out when my contract ends. I've requested to speak with Tim the manager and he has avoided me at every opportunity. He has his leasing agents cordon off all issues that confront him. Soldier's and Airmen don't fall victim to the "affordable" price. Nearly every door jam is falling off and all of the closets are broken. This place literally just fell apart. The maintenence is horrible and you'll soon find out that your getting taken advantage of. Move to dupont area or lacy the schools are nicer and the quality of life is better.
Lived there for 8 years. Under Equity management it was ok and the manager was competent and office staff at least had a clue and got things done. Yes there were some break ins , both car and apartment. The last year or so it started to go down hill, kids throwing rocks at apartment windows, cars and tormenting animals. I can understand why Equity sold it, vacancy rate was increasing. The apartments need some serious updating, the installed microwave was made in 96. When JRK or whatever their name is took over, things hit bottom. Our rent increase was ridiculous, the staff at the office had no clue as they were not from washington and tried to make the case that the increase and their rents were normal for the area, umm BS! They made these claims about updating the apartments and the amenities, according to my old neighbor who still lives there her rent went way up (20%), they only thing the remodeled was the main office building. They now nickel and dime you to death and charge for every little thing. You also can't smoke (you really shouldn't anyway) anywhere but out in the parking lot. Some residents have a heard certain management personnel make derogatory statements against service members and vets, something along the lines that they should all be locked up because they are crazy. They even had my car towed away while i was in Afghanistan, no warning no nothing, wife was surprised to say the least when she woke up and it was gone. She didn't get any help from the office and they claimed they had no idea and that the security guard did it (this was under the new management). Don't rent from here, its a last resort if you ask me. Oh and while its in University place school district its actually inside Tacoma city lines so your emergency services have to come from Tacoma (granted not that far but still takes a little longer).
I have been having mixed feelings about this place. Mostly it is a good place to live - just a nice staff and having a safe and clean place to come home to. The amenities, I don't really use much but it looks nice at least aesthetically. Building color needs some repainting. No real issues here and a nice clean place to live.
we love the apartment we live in itself and we really enjoyed the pool this last summer but we are overjoyed to be moving out! the complex is so over crowded. there is no where to park ever. there is only 1 place to take out the trash and it is always a mess. people just throw their crap on the ground and its sometimes a few days before its taken care of. The management did change half way through our stay here and before we were very happy with them and now we get notices on our door constantly for "late" fees its so frustrating and the staff really seems to just not give a crap about the residents. I would not recommend any one live here. as excited I am to be moving out, im already anticipating all the fees and whatever other bull that's going to come our way in the process.
MILITARY STAY AWAY!!! Nearly every review I have read has been correct. Lets start off back at the end of 2013 my husbands father had passed, we went on emergency leave and notified them we would be gone and the check would be mailed to them out of state, come back to WA we had a 3 day notice to vacate! Very quick to kick you out! The staff is VERY RUDE, EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL, LAZY, except the 19 year old female boxer ranked #1 in WA who threatened my family after an altercation with the assistant manager at an earlier date. WAYYY OVER PRICED!! but were told we are paying under market value lol We came to westridge apartments bc they were affordable. While we were in the office the lady we were dealing with openly told us about the person who has walked in has been denied to live at boudlers at puget sound bc he has an eviction on his record!! My husband and I were in shock!! should of told the man hes lucky he got denied!! saved him some money!! overall this is a HORRIBLE place to even consider moving into!!! & by the way to the one comment above us her name wasn't shawntee it was Shante, who btw is very rude and ignorant like the rest of the staff!!! they love to gossip about all the residents right in front of you!!! STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!! Spiders everywhere all in your apartment and mouses running around in the parking lot!! I took pictures they are on YELP!!
