Simply put, WOW! I recently moved in to Sonterra, because I needed a three bedroom. There are limited communities that have such a thing, so I toured them all. I immediately fell in love with Sonterra out of the bunch! First of all, this was because Jennifer is the most kind, professional, and hardworking person that I've met! She was so friendly and went above and beyond with helping my husband and I choose the perfect home. Secondly, I must applaud the maintenance people that got my apartment ready. I was seriously blown away when I saw it for the first time (we rented it without seeing the actual apartment)! It smelled fresh and was bright, was immaculately clean, and there was a level of ownership and pride that I could tell came from the people that worked in my home! Also, I see other reviews about parking, but I haven't had any trouble. There is street parking just across the way from the entrance, and I also have a huge garage and carport parking space. I also elected to rent an additional space, so if you ask me, parking is ample! The pool is fantastic, as you can see by the property's photos online, and the gym is enormous! It is always clean, and doesn't smell like many other gyms I have frequented. The last thing I want to say is again about Jennifer. About a week after I moved in, I received a voicemail from her, checking in on me. Not just some lazy call as part of a required and tired routine, but an amazing personable call! She wanted to make sure that we had settled in nicely, and that we were doing well, and asked if any part of our experience that she could make better. I could feel the care in her voice, and know that if we need anything, she'll be there to help us. Kudos everyone at Sonterra!
Overall our experience in this place was ok.. ((We had requested that some of these items be fixed during "pre-move in inspection)) When we first moved into the apartment the ceilings in the kitchen were not painted properly. It was missing some of the wooden base boards around the kitchen sink. We noticed the tile wall behind the tub had a whole section falling out which ended up getting replaced a week later. The first night we tried shower with no hot water, why? the boiler had gone out and had to wait until they replaced the old one... Our downstairs neighbor smoked cigarettes and weed all day like that was his job (NOT THAT WE CARED) but the fumes and smoke would come in through the vents through out the day and nights which made it uncomfortable to sleep. Not only that we had a new born in the house which mad it a bug concern. Brought it up to the leasing office and nothing was done about it.. SMH.. The list goes on.. Finally, 3 weeks before our lease was up we had moved out into a new place leaving the apartment completely empty. I scheduled a pre-move out inspection with their head maintenance guy (Ricardo). After the walk through Ricardo said the apartment was in great condition with hardly any foot traffic on the carpets. However..... Ricardo said "Although the apartment looks good, you did agree in your contract that you would take care of the sanitation and carpet cleaning of the apartment or we can take care of it for $X amount. All you would do then is simply paint over the holes in the wall which you've patched." (The leasing office never mentioned any of this.) My wife and I agreed to follow through with painting the patches on the wall and allow sonterra to take care of the rest. A couple weeks later we get a bill in the mail for the work that was done in the apartment and on it is a charge for the painting of the walls. What the heck!! Called the leasing office to see what this about and everyone gave us the runaround "You'll need to speak with Ricardo we don't know anything about this" Including the manager.. Finally, after 2 1/2 weeks of trying Ricardo gets back to me and says that they had to paint all of the kitchen cabinets and pantry which were scuffed up.. Wait. He never mentioned that during the walk through and now we have to pay for it.. Ricardo said it took them 2 hrs of labor plus to paint 5 cabinet and pantry plus the cost of the paint and said management had declined and refunds and would have to pay the entire balance.. We didnt really care about the balance, we were more frustrated at the fact the issue was never brought up in the first place being that the apartment was completely empty. Must be away for them to make more money. Never Again
We loved Sonterra when we moved in, but after living here for 2 years, they decided to jack up our rent by almost $300 all because they are going to renovate the unit (with us living in it). Renovations began during the summer of 2014. They didn't even bother to let the tenants know that renovations are going to be made when the lease is up for renewal. Anyone looking to rent at Sonterra should think twice. They don't communicate future intentions to the tenants, no wonder so many people are moving out!
It's located in good place, that's why the Staff behaving like people have no choice. Their response is horrible when I want to break the lease, they want to make as much money as they can. I end up paying 2.5 month rent, even when I'm in apartment, they leased the apartment to other people and increased $200 rent/month. Struggled a lot and left that apartment in disappointing manner.
My husband and I just moved here last month and we are expecting our first child in a few weeks. The staff has gone above and beyond in accommodations, as has the maintenance crew. Communication with them is always easy and they are extremely friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. The premises itself is always kept clean and the apartment we rented (newly renovated) is fantastic. We receive emails with constant updates on anything they are doing, from renovating the pool, to new gym hours, to the food truck they are having for the tenants soon. We're excited to see what the rest of our year lease here will bring with a new baby.
