My fiance and I were looking for a nice place to call our own, and we thought we found it with how nice the staff was and how spacious the apartments were. Don't get me wrong, the staff is sweet, and the apartments are nice, but the ROACHES are unbearable. I went in reading the reviews, so when I did my walkthrough I did a thorough search and saw nothing. I also mentioned to the staff that there were reviews all over that say their apartments have an infestation, and they responded with, "We have NEVER heard of that issue before!" Then, the day I moved in, there were flyers all over the apartment building saying that the apartments were ALL being treated due to complaints about the ROACHES. I have a friend that lives in another building and he's never had the problem. So I think only certain buildings are affected. Obviously they're bugs, they live in the walls and in dark places, so when you go to see the apartments, make sure you check the specific unit you will be moving in to. I was here for less than 6 weeks. Luckily I had it in writing that they wouldn't penalize me for leaving due to bugs, so I was able to break my lease with no issues. But now I have to buy all new furniture and wash every article of clothing I own just so I don't have to worry about bringing them to my next place! I like the neighborhood and it's a great location being so close to everything. It was relatively quiet, which I really enjoyed. The apartment was really clean when I moved in, with fresh paint and carpet (the smell never went away of the new place, even after getting air fresheners). Seriously though, it looks great and the rent is reasonable, but I won't ever recommend this place to anyone.
I'd like to start off by saying that the folks in the front office are very nice and incredibly helpful. They helped us through the difficult situation and were very reasonable and accommodating. ROACHES! Me and my roommates moved in and got settled without any issues, tentatively signing the lease after reading other reviews about roaches. We have a friend who lives in another building who said that he has never had a problem, so we went for it because of the price and location. We only stayed 6-8 weeks because of the roach infestation. I would turn on the kitchen light in the morning to make coffee, and one or two roaches would scatter. We found them in our cupboards, microwave, coffee maker, bedroom, and bathroom. Completely unacceptable. When reaching for a bag of chips, I shouldn't have to stare at a roach the size of my thumb nail. Castle Bluff has exterminators that come every month, just to do check ups. We were told that they would pull all of our appliances out and treat the entire apartment. One of my roommates was home when they showed up, and the exterminator barely did anything. It seems to me that this has probably been a problem for a while and the exterminating company has just given up. The entire building I was in is infested, and there is at least another one or two buildings as well because the office staff told me that the exterminators were treating 20-something apartments one day. This review is getting long, and I think you get the point. The apartment itself was relatively clean, but the rest of the building felt gross. Noise was not an issue on the third floor, aside from the train tracks that are nearby. If you decide to look into these apartments, don't trust what the front office says about bugs. We were guaranteed it would not be a problem but I feel like that was just to get us to sign a lease. They will comfort you by saying that an exterminator treats the entire building, or that they have NEVER EVER heard of roaches being a problem (that's what they told me). Once we brought these issues to the office we were able to break our lease and received our full security deposit, but the hassle and expense of moving twice in 8 weeks was not pleasant.
I've lived here for almost 8 years and really like it. The managers are good people, friendly, professional and care about people. It's generally quiet and I've rarely experienced loud music or noise problems from neighbors, but in the few cases I have, the management would take care of it. The apartments are surrounded by large evergreen trees and a wooded area nearby. It’s only a mile or so from Woodland Mall, so shopping is easy to get to.
I have lived her for a month now and really enjoy it. It's very close to all the stores and restaurants on 28th street yet surprisingly quiet. Office staff is friendly. I also love the walkin closet and additional storage closets in the hallway. I have ceiling fans in all my rooms which is a huge plus. My favorite thing is the gas stove! the gas is included in my rent so I can cook as much as I want. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends.
