I lived here for 14 months, only recently moving because of a change in employment. The community in general is safe, clean, well-appointed, and offers some great amenities like the free shuttle service to the medical center. There are some ongoing challenges with international short term tenants who do not share the same values towards cleanliness and hospitality as those with accustomed to our Western culture, so if that kind of thing rubs you the wrong way, you may want to look elsewhere. However, the best thing about living here was the customer service. I've lived in apartments managed by competitors and have to say that this team is hands-down above and beyond the other guys in terms of attitude. Apartment service requests, package pick up, and general questions were always handled with a friendly smile and a "can do" attitude.
I love the location, customer service and the community. It's clean and nice neighbors so far!!!
We have lived at Archstone Toscano for 5 months now and I can seriously say that I have no plans to sign another lease here. The apartment itself, amenities, and location are good. However, I have serious problems with how the other residents treat the property and the customer service provided at the front office when major issues occur. To put it bluntly, many of the residents here are absolute pigs (this is not the management's fault - they do try...). Garbage is regularly left all over the place (someone once dumped theirs in our elevator), people smoke even though it is a no smoking facility and throw the butts in the halls, residents do not respect the pool's closing times, and there is pet pee/poop everywhere. I have a dog and the building has pet waste bags and disposal stations at several places around. However, it seems that many owners never bother to clean up after their pets and you cannot even begin to enter the grassy areas without immediately stepping in animal waste. I now have to wash my dog's feet every time we come back inside because he is constantly stepping in dog poop as he tries to find a clean patch of grass himself... I've lived in several large apartment complexes in metropolitan areas on the East Coast and never saw residents treat the building with such disregard as here. My other issue is the management office here does not provide appropriate customer service. I became trapped in an elevator in the building for 40 minutes while I was 9 months pregnant. When I called the office following the incident and urged them to please fix the problem or post a sign/shut down the elevator (it was a weekend), they told me it would be repaired the following week at some point. No one apologized to me for the horrific experience, and to top it all off, the woman I spoke to told me that I should take the stairs from now on while 9 months pregnant in August. There was zero follow up. In subsequent discussions with neighbors, it turns out that several of them have been trapped in elevators as well. This week the building is undergoing fire alarm testing over a period of three days. We all received an emailed notice giving dates for the testing for each building. Having an infant and a dog who freaks out with alarms, I booked a hotel room for the day my building was to have alarm testing. Lo and behold, the alarms in my building start going off the day before its scheduled testing, leading to a screaming infant and dog going crazy. I ran out to the parking garage only to find many other residents out there trying to console children and pets too. When I called the office to ask what was going on, no explanation was provided why the alarms were going off in our building and they offered me ear plugs for my baby (?!?!?!). I ended up coughing up money for a hotel for two days because of this utter lack of organization. In sum, for this amount of money you are better off going somewhere else. I find myself constantly enraged living here and wish I had explored more buildings before signing this lease.
I am a current resident. I have been living here for almost a year now. I would recommend it to my friends. I looked at almost every apartment around Galleria area. This place offers the price, location and qualities. Pros: It's a beautiful place and very new. The management team is great. They are caring, patient and friendly. The manager is super nice and willing to listen to your opinions. This is the main reason I choose them. The maintenance requests usually get taken care of within 24 hours. The online paymemt system is convenient. No hiding fees. Free parking. You have to pay a monthly trash pickup fee for around $10, water and sewage, and rent. These amounts are in one bill, which is due the first day of each month. This place is secure. Never hear any safety problems since I live here. Cons: Like mentioned in other reviews, the only internet company they offer is At&t. It can be slow sometimes. I called At&t once and they made it better. If the unit is not facing the streets, you most likely won't have phone signal. I think they have a hotspot for Verizon though. I'm using T-mobile which has wi-fi calling so as long as I'm not in the parking garage, I can still get signal. There were bug issues in my apartment in Spring. I called to schdule pest control which came within the next couple of business days. Overall, this is a great place and gained my trust. If I ever have to move, I don't know whether I can find a place good like this.
Be aware that they only offer AT&T U-Verse for internet. AT&T U-Verse only offers internet speeds as high as 24Mbps - abysmally slow compared to competitors. I'm rating this apartment complex low because of that. If they want a higher rating - contract with better service providers so that you can in turn offer better services.
