i lived in a couple different apartments there and while the location was nice with the greenbelt so close the apartments are is serious need of repair. The utility costs from there little BS apartments is horrific, its like you are paying to cool the parking lot. I bitched and complained until they replaced my entire AC system after showing them my 350 dollar electric bills for my dinky 1br and then they still managed to screw things up with the new system. I have nothing but good things to say about most of the maintenance people, they really are a bright spot out there but management is not so hot to say the least. I will echo what others have said about the stupid hikes every year in your lease agreements....they usually jump like 60-100 bucks a year it seemed. The only good thing is that they allow dogs which i had a hard time finding a place for.
This apartment complex may look decent from the street, but that's where it stops. The leasing department in front will do what they can to get you in their lease so they can rape you once you move out. Lease prices jump dramatically once agreements are up for renewal. This was not the case when I moved in... as we had managers that actually cared. This place went through three (yes... THREE!) management changes while I lived there. These apartments are falling apart. Hurricane Ike left serious concealed water damage. I watched as the tenants, bored out their minds, clean up the apartment complex. There was not even a thank you note on doors for helping out either. To them it was free labor. They cannot get their agreements right with the cable company either. I spent the last two months of my lease (which I bought out of... cause it was worth it) with coax cable coming in from the window. All because the apartment complex could not come to terms on who's in charge of running cable in their own apartment buildings. FYI Elm Creek, YOU are to run YOUR own cable from the CABLE COMPANY'S box to YOUR apartments! When I moved out... they charged me a $200 move out fee because I left a nice vacuum cleaner and other accessories for the less fortunate but hardworking maintenance people. Whom I have the upmost respect for... they keep that apartment complex from collapsing in on itself. This stuff was also neatly organized in the middle of the living room. Security is nil, children and others come from the neighborhoods and use the pool with total disrespect. The office does not perform any kind of security on it. They will have no problem citing and fining you if you are in the vacinity of the delinquents. Just because they can ID you since you live there. Your in luck if you happen to find the Hot Tub working and not full of beer, whiz, and you know what. Also, they hardly do any screening on who they let move in. There are some absolute bums and nutjobs in that place. There are also good people there that have to tolerate drug peddlers and undiciplined kids. Also, the apartment manager has absolutely zero desire to work with people. She would rather hide behind the corporate rules to rake in easy money so that her profit margin looks better. Bottom line, this place is a declining hell hole that needs to be condemned. I don't even let my girlfriend stay in those apartments at night anymore, the place is NOT safe. Only 10 more months till she gets out of her lease... because the agreement they pose for early leaving forces you to pay the whole lease agreement upfront... NO EXCEPTIONS. This is from a former resident, someone who was also renting one of their "upscale" one bedroom apartments.
