Do not rent here!! After our application was accepted we hired movers to come move my husband and I seeing that I'm pregnant and can't lift anything. The day of the move in we were not given keys when we came in the morning to drop off our check in fact we were not given keys until an hour and 20 minutes after we arrived with the movers. When we were finally allowed to enter the place we paid for it was not move in ready. Staff doesn't care and either does maintenence. Also paid a pet deposit fee they took 400$ then claimed they didn't approve our pet. They won't listen to noise complaints they will just hang up on you so call the cops get a case going. Also if you have similar living conditions call code enforcement they will help. Record every conversation between you and staff. They have threatened to call cops even though she is the one yelling at us and chasing us out of her leasing office when dropping off rent check. As long as you record it's not a he said she said situation and you have proof you have done nothing wrong (have on recording her chasing my husband out of leasing office after dropping rent check off) and recorded all conversations. Do not do not rent here. Half the apartments are vacant anyways who knows how long this place will be open.
So, I just moved in and so far I do not have any complaints. I heard about these apartments from friends of mine and I never heard of them before.I came to Google to look Epernay's reviews and they were absolutely terrible. It was actually pretty sad. However, there are a couple reasons why I did not let the reviews make the decision for me...One, people only tend to write reviews when they are angry and upset. For some reason people suddenly grow a pair and put all caps on a review to make the company and other people feel terrible, but to make themselves feel better. I try to write reviews when I am thrilled with the service as well. Secondly, the most recent reviews on Google were from a year ago. Things change in time. So I figured I would check them out for myself. I came in and it looked great to me! The pool has a gorgeous view of Pikes Peak including a hot tub. Not only that, this complex also has a tennis and racquetball court. How awesome is that??!! I was excited! The landscaping is breathtaking. There are soooo many trees which are beautiful and healthy for you. In the reviews that I have read, people complained about noises in their walls due to pipes and maintenance not caring about services that needs fixed, and from personal opinion/experience I am going to have to strongly disagree. I have had no issues with anyone from the office. The General Manager, Cathleen is amazing! If we need to put in a work order the issue is resolved without problems! Considering the rotten reviews for this beautiful property I decided it needed one to show the positive aspects that are actually true and a hell of a lot more recent! (; I will be sure to check in later towards the end of my lease and see if all these rumors become true. Doubt it, but we shall see! (: Sorry for the novel!
I have nothing but good things to say about living here. I've been here 4 months now, I love the office staff, any time I've needed something fixed it's been done within a few hours, the property is beautiful, the view of Pike's Peak is framed by huge trees when in the pool or hot tub. I almost didn't move in because it was so inexpensive compared to other places, but it turns out that it's a bargain. No neighbor issues, no management issues, no apt issues...I can't say enough good things.
I have lived in 6 different apartment complexes and this is by far the worst building quality and worst staff. We had no ceiling fan where one should be, water damage when we moved in, not given keys until 4:30 when I was there to get them at 11 am. Carpet was never really cleaned before move in even though we were promised improvements. Just thought everyone should know what we went through.
The heating system in the apartment that I reside in does not give off sufficient heat to keep the residence at a comfortable living temperature. I am not sure what the current temperature is due to the fact that the thermostat will only read a temperature at or above 50 degrees. I asked for maintenance to repair the heater on February 1, 2011, but only noticed that they had moved my furniture away from the heating element. I again called maintenance today, February 2, 2011 and was told by the maintenance man Gary, "I don't know what to tell you. The system just wasn't designed correctly, you should just turn on the oven for heat." Gary then left my apartment. The instructions from the management office is that I can borrow a space heater, but they will not adjust my rent for the month even if it is too cold for my kids and myself to stay there. I have not been able to stay in my apartment for 2 nights now, January 31, 2011 and February 1, 2011, due to the cold temperatures.
