I've lived at AMLI Memorial Heights for a year now and have had THE BEST experience. The apartments are impeccable with the best amenities. The pricing is fair and payment is easy. I wanted an apartment with friendly and reliable staff, which is why I chose AMLI MH. Elly in the leasing office has been so helpful and sweet - I can go to her for anything! I moved to Houston from NYC without knowing anything about this city, the location at AMLI has made seeing every part of Houston super accessible. I'm sad to be moving soon, but know if I return to Houston where to live again!
Location is good, thats it. I have lived here for 6 months and I haven't gone one without calling the office to report an issue. Even though I signed my lease almost 60 days in advance, the day I was supposed to move in there was still a crew installing the floor. They obviously left the appartment increadybly messy, so the office sent the cleaning lady to sweep and dust the next day (she was there for 8 minutes). Walls, doors, counter tops, carpet, and bathrooms were dirty, not an 8 minute job. There are entry gates to this complex, you can safely assume that over 50% of the time one will be disbaled (open). Whats the point of a gate? I have called 2 times in the last month for AC maintencance and once for a washer repair. I actually spent over a week with no washer becasue one of teh girls at the office told me on a thursday that maitenance could come on saturday, they dont work on satuday. The next week they came and and couldn't fixt it, three days later they came with a new unit. To sum up; If you are looking for a place with high rent, messy apartments, out dated appliances, no AC in the summer, wide open gate, and descent location. You've found it!
I liked the location of the apartment complex on buffalo bayou and close to downtown but that's the only thing. The units are horribly outdated, no granite counter tops, old dingy carpet, the kitchen cabinets like to fall apart, old inefficient ac units and thermostats, and outdated bathroom sinks, faucets, and toilets. Not one renovation has been made to my unit since it was built. The one good thing about the complex is its proximity to the nearby parks, but the back gate is always broken and you can never use it. With the huge amount of money I pay a month on rent I could walk down the street and for the same amount I can get a completely new and beautiful apartment. Even with all this said, the management staff is the worst I have ever encountered. When I was trying to vacate my apartment they held me to policies that I didn't sign in my lease yet they told me they are in there "somewhere" yet failed to show them to me when I asked to read the actual lease. TLDR...Don't live here, crappy management, crappy quality, poorly maintained. Find something cheaper for the same value and save your money or find something for the same money that has more value.
I have lived at the Amli Memorial Heights for the past year. I have really enjoyed my time here. The location is great, I can almost walk wherever I want to go or take a short cab ride. The staff is friendly and very easy to talk to esp Elly,. If you have a dog its a great place to live, several of the tenants have them as well and everyone is friendly. The only 2 drawbacks I can think of is their exterior gate situation. A few times a year it goes out and it take around a week to fix it. Pro's of that; no outsider can get in, con , it makes it tougher to get to the park. The other con I have is the thinner interior walls, if your neighbor has a dog that barks you will know it. One of the pros i really enjoy about living at Amli Memorial Heights;anytime i schedule a maintenance request it is fulfilled within 24 hours. Overall I have really enjoyed living here and plan on staying until I get a house... One last thing I forgot to mention is the Bats from spring -fall in the evening and the mornings, its gets frustration when walking..."running" to you car to dodge a bat. The staff tells you their a protected species and there is nothing they can do about it & I understand that and I know they are not at fault for it, but it would be nice if they could somehow relocate their living corridor. If Amli doesnt have a janitor to clean the bat droppings everyday in the garage hallway it starts to smell terrible and you have to hold your breath when walking by. If it gets crazy with do doo you can email them. Due to the bats and the gates always being broken I would drop it down a half star. Overall I still would recommend this place just not in the bat wings.
My BF and I have lived here for a year now and we are about to renew our lease. We couldn't imagine moving anywhere or to any place else. Ellie in the front office is always a pleasure to work with and the other staff are always helpful when you go in there. They have an awesome system of sending out email notifications. They are currently doing a lot of updating to the property and it's really nice. The dog community here cannot be beat. Dog owners come outside with their pets and let them play and hang out in the many green spaces in the complex. There is a gate that leads you right onto the Buffalo Bayou trail. It's soooo easy. The new dog park will only be a 5 minute walk away once it's complete in Fall 2014. Parking is easy for those in the large buildings. The parking situation for those who live in the lofts along the fence could be better because there is only one spot per household and the other car has to go into the garage. The pool is small and there are always people out there, so I just avoid it during the weekends. Maintenance is always quick and responsive. The dog waste stations are always full of bags and the trash bags get emptied out often. I enjoy the valet trash service. They even grab you RECYCLING! How convenient. Everything here has been great for us. The location is perfect and the actual apartment is amazing. We live in a large loft that faces the bayou. It's an amazing spot to just enjoy a coffee in the morning or a glass of wine when getting off work. The price is a little steep, but compared to many of the other apartment complexes around town this place is amazing. There is plenty of guest parking and green space. It's quiet and has a nice neighborhood feel. The floorplans and layouts are very unique as well. Don't fall for those places with the generic apartment layouts.
