Don't let these good reviews fool you people. Management is writing those good reviews. I lived there where it used to Call AlexanCity. I lived there for 2-1/2 years. the first couple months were not too bad until they brought in section 8. The Alarm: whenever it rains or heavy snow trust me you will not be able to sleep all night. The fire department of Bayonne were probably tired going there. The Garage door: every other week they were fixing that garage door, and folks who didn't pay for the garage still could have access because the door were always broken. The Garbage trucks: at the time I had a toddler every morning they make so much noise to wake us up. Security: NONE... if you google online alexan city view incidents you will see. During, my 3 years they had 4 different managers. The only good thing about this place is the valet garbage of course for a mandatory fee $25/month regardless if you use it or not. The signing out process is nothing but a nightmare. I left my apartment spotless they still deduct my deposit for a cleaning fee. These folks are crooks I'm begging you people not to move there. Take my advise you will thank me later. I'm glad I left this place.
Harbor Pointe is the absolute worst place you can choose to live. I cannot wait until my lease is up. I moved here in July 2015 and there have been nothing but problems from day one. The apartments are fairly new, about 5-6 years old, yet are deteriorating fast because of the Section 8 housing residents who don't take care of anything. My apartment faces the ship yard and I get awakened at 4:30am every morning from trucks honking at each other. It sounds like they are in my apartment - it's that loud. It's miserable and there's nothing anyone can do about it. Let's get into the biggest issue with this place - the shuttles. The shuttles never come on time and sometimes don't even come at all so you are stranded and can't get to work or go home at night. The drivers have no sense of urgency in the morning to get everyone to the PATH in a reasonable amount of time. It takes about 35-40 minutes to get to Grove St which is ridiculous considering you can drive your car and get there in 15 minutes with traffic. So your commute to NYC takes an hour and half each way. There is a large Indian population in this community so the shuttles smell so horrible that you have to hold your nose the whole ride. It's not worth the headache to live here just to save some money. It's worth spending a little more to live near public transportation and where they don't allow Section 8 housing to avoid situations like this. Avoid this place at all costs.
My agent has so far been very helpful in finding the perfect apartment with an amazing view 2BR for 2800/month. Our agent went out of her way to help us and called to follow up often. I love the contrast between the urban shipping look/ city and the reserves and memorials in the area. I love nature but I also love being close to the city so it's ideal and sicluded. It's like the best of both worlds. I LOVE that they have fobs for security and the new lockers in the lobby are amazing. I like that they can send notifications when your package arrives and the lockers seem very secure and safe. They offer a generous amount of shuttle rides and the train is right there so it will be easy for family and friends to visit. Parking is so easy it is unreal. I was offered the chance to upgrade the apartment with rennovations, but honestly...rennovations or not, whatever you choose you'll have a beautiful apartment. So far, I'm really happy with everything and cannot wait to live here for my first year.
This place is not what it's cracked up to be. Management changed, new owners, it once was called the Alexan city view which now is called the harbor pointe. The views aren't as nice as they promote, yes from my window you can see the city but it's a bunch of trucks, boat ships and a bunch of junk in front of the view. If you live here you must have a car, the shuttle service does not run all day, it runs only from 7am-930am and it doesn't run again until 6pm-940pm which isn't good if you work in NYC. The light rail is very far walking distance you have to cross the high way and all just to get to it about a 30 min walk maybe more,Also the shuttles are dingy and small vans. Fits about 12-13 people. So if it's crowded you have to wait 30-40 mins for the next one or pay a uber or a car service. The neighbors complain even if you walk because the floors and walls are very thin. There's been break ins constantly in both buildings and they still Won't and haven't hired any sercurity or doormats for both buildings,They keep basketball court locked all day because the kids in the complex tear everything up and ruin it for everyone. The pool is small and you are only allowed to bring 2 people to the pool, if more you have to pay I believe 10 dollars each person. They are being cheap and refuse to pay extra to the shuttle company for more hours of shuttle service to give us tenants through out the day and evening for us to get around. Be prepared to consistently spend money on ubers if you don't have a car, also being that it's a secluded area there are barely ever ubers around so you'll have to wait maybe a hour or so or if so its always a surge charge. The new management are rude once you move in. I've had a leak in this apt since I moved in that they promised to fix in the bedroom, whelp it's still there! I been here a year, Btw some of the break ins in our complex were inside job with the Maintenance people, they've told me themselves. Kids kick on doors and run in the building as if this were the projects and your rent is $20 dollars a month. There's NO DOOR MAN OR SERCURITY. So not safe at all. Anyone can walk into the building and harm you. There are no cameras in the elevators or hallways. The gym is small and smelly and doesn't have enough equipment. The basketball court is only allowed to be used if you show ID and you are only allowed to have 1 other person with you in the basketball court, it closes at 8pm which isn't fair to people who get home late from work, I've even complained about that and so did other tenants but they don't care. The rent is over priced here for sure. It's about 20 mins without traffic to the holland tunnel driving. People do not pick up their dog poop, so be careful walking over here. The only good thing about living here is the apt size and the parking. But still isn't worth $2000 a month for rent. Old appliances like washer and dryer and stove, refrigerator and microwave, the appliances in the bathroom are old and cheap. The new management / owner fired the concierge we did have giving us our packages Ect that was in the club house where the amenities are, so now they put ugly big brown lockers in the lobbies which is a fire hazard and now looks like a gym locker room not a lobby, Can't look out the window anymore in the lobby you would actually need to step out the building now to see if your ride is outside. The lockers now keep your packages inside which isn't safe because anyone can kick the locker and somehow open it. Not cool at all. Today they said I had a package and I had to register to have a code to open the locker myself to get a package which is silly, they couldn't find it, opened up almost every other locker just to find my package. Btw my mailbox has been messed up.They charge$30 a month for someone to pick your garbage up 5 days a week at 9pm, the incinerator is filthy people here just throw their garbage all over the floor,This place is not worth it, they need to drop their rent prices or make some big changes! And upgrades! This isn't luxury at all! Don't be fooled people.
I've received amazing service from the leasing management and maintenance staff. We had several issues with our new apartment before moving in( these was a leaky roof) but the management accommodated us in their very spacious and furnished business suite for several days. They even gave us options to upgrade for the same price but we loved the view from our apt so we kept our place. Hands down the new management is very attentive, polite and caring. The building is always clean, the free shuttle to Grove st is super convenient. It's a nice quite place from the city but there are several shopping areas around it. I.e: Bayonne Crossing shopping Center. There's police patrolling round the clock (I got tickets for hydrant parking, my fault) so i feel safe. And just breath taking view every morning to the golf club and NYC freedom tower. They host fun events monthly. I see food trucks weekly. I have nice quiet neighbours. I just wish that somehow I didn't have to smell what they were cooking in the halls. #lovewhereyoulive
