I've lived in a lot of apartments, and this has by far been the worst. The entire community is covered in goose poop 24/7, so your pets (and kids if you have them) can't really can't play in the grassy areas. The walls are paper thin and you can hear everyone that lives above you or next to you. To top it all off, I gave the leasing office my move out date before I moved in, and then they charged me extra rent when I didn't fill out their form 60 days before I moved out. If I could give this place zero stars, I would.
Lots to love at Cumberland Cove. Access to the lake, 2 pools, 2 tennis courts, close to the grocery store, average rent price, safe neighborhood, friendly staff members, well kept grounds. I've bee here for 1 1/2 years and have enjoyed my experience. Things that aren't so great: The washer and dryer facilities do not work very well. I often needed to run two cycles in the dryer. The fitness room is small and the machines seemed to always need work done. The geese in the late winter and spring will keep you from sleeping if you live near the lake or the pond behind the office. Ear plugs are necessary to sleep.
I was considering living in this complex because many of my co-workers reside in Cumberland cove. My interest was quickly dissolved when my I had the unpleasant experience of speaking with Colby. She is a leasing consultant and she is extremely unprofessional, tasteless, sarcastic and unpleasant. It is obvious she dislikes her job and makes it a point to "jab" her residents. Getting the last word is most important to Colby as oppose to assisting her residents. Colby is an absolute cancer to this complex leasing staff. Colby is a prime example of an awful employee who brings a bad reputation to other hard working staff members in the complex. My review is 1 star because no matter how pleasant the apartment is when you have a terrible, unprofessional staff member it makes it impossible to have a healthy living situation. TERRIBLE!! COLBY IS AWFUL.
My husband and I moved into Cumberland Cove about 2 months ago and so far we love it. We have had maintenance requests twice now and each time they were fixed by the time we got back home. The staff at the front office is amazing and so friendly. Anytime we have to stop into the office they always greet you in a friendly manner. Only little downside is that we have neighbors upstairs that seem to like running or stomping in their apartment at midnight. They live on the 3rd floor and we live on the 2nd. But that isn't the staff's fault. We really enjoy living here. Its quiet, the neighbors are friendly, everyone owns a dog and its adorable. Most of all, we love how spacious our 1bd 1bth is. Thanks Cumberland Cove for making our first apartment experience a great one so far!
It was the worst experience. In the beginning before signing the lease the staff was polite and willing to do anything they could to make it a pleasant moving experience. For 2 years, my fault for staying that long, I was given a fridge that was broken from the beginning. The freezer would clog therefore draining into the main part of the refrigerator soaking food and the inside. Just created a big wet mess! I would call the office at the least once a month to have maintenance come in to fix the fridge. I asked on several occasions to have a replacement. Never responded to that... Then it came to renew my lease. I thought about moving but I asked them if I decided to stay would they replace my fridge? They verbally told me that since I would be renewing my lease they would replace my fridge. I should have had them put that in writing because I never saw a new fridge. On another note, kids are constantly skate boarding in the parking lot. I even witnessed one kid skateboarding and accidentally slam their body into a parked car. I was happy it wasn't mine, but it was someones car. I love dogs as much as the next person. The owners on the other hand are lazy. Dog poop everywhere. Watch out for those dog poop land mines! Annoying neighbors. Sure it's an apartment community, you're bound to have a few. If you like drunken fights, parties, and loud slander all on a Monday night then this is the right place for you! For the amount you pay for rent you don't receive the hospitality you are believed to get. It's more of lies right through the staff's teeth. :D And on the day you move out make sure you have the staff do a walk-through with you. This was my fault, and I should have known. I went in to the office and dropped off my keys. However, I did plan on having a walk-through but nothing was mentioned. They said thank you and that was that. I left, knowing I should have asked them to do a walk-through. About a month later I receive a bill in my EMAIL stating that I owed CUMBERLAND COVE APARTMENTS reimbursement for carpet replacement. You can imagine I'm slapping the side of my head with my hands. "Why? Why? Why?" What ticks me off more than anything is that they sent it to my EMAIL. They have both my telephone number and forwarding address. Why not try to call me and be somewhat personable. Their email sat in my Junk Mail for about a month before I ever saw it. Anyways, I do understand that not everyone gets the short end of the stick, but be careful before settling for this place. There are a bunch of better apartment communities out there. Anyways thanks for reading this long comment. I hope you found it to be helpful.
