Hello, People of the Internet!
Come live with us in our beautiful, newly rehabbed home in Chicago’s up-and-coming East Garfield Park neighborhood. The house has fresh paint, dark hardwood floors, exposed brick walls, and stainless steel appliances in the kitchen. The common spaces are fully furnished so you don’t have to worry about bringing any furniture besides what you need for your room. The house has central heat and air as well as an energy-efficient washer/dryer you can use anytime. The bedroom is a spacious 12x10 and has a good-sized closet and large window. The basement is yours to store anything you don’t have space for in your bedroom.
We are in the heart of East Garfield Park, close to several transportation options. I don’t own a car and I rely entirely on my bike and public transportation to get around, which is easy to do from our house. We are three blocks north of the Kedzie Green line stop, two blocks south of the Kedzie Metra stop, and less than one block from the nearest 52 Kedzie and 82 Kimball/Homan stops. You can leave your bike in the basement, or there is always plenty of on-street parking right in front of the house if you have a car. I should also mention we are just a few blocks from the gorgeous Garfield Park Conservatory.
I am a high school English teacher on the west side, so I’m usually out of the house from dawn to dusk each weekday. When I’m home, I like to relax on the couch with a book in one hand and a craft beer in the other.
My roommate, Adam, is a freelance painter/handyman who keeps everything working in the house and maintains our Airbnb room. He likes to craft his own homebrew and ride his bike around town when he isn’t playing video games or out in the woods for a long weekend camping.
And my other roommate Will is a teller at a downtown bank and Uber driver. You can usually find him when he's home bingeing on Anime or dominating nuubs on Rocket League.
We are looking for a roommate in his or her 20s or 30s of any gender, sexuality, race or ethnicity. Our roommate must be fully employed, respectful around the house, very clean and considerate of others. We are looking for a roommate who does not own any pets or smoke cigarettes and ideally can move in immediately, but we can compromise on a move-in date as late as March 1 for the right person.
About the neighborhood:
East Garfield Park is a racially and economically diverse neighborhood, so if you’re uncomfortable with that, our house isn’t the place for you.
