The Stuart at Sierra Madre Villa 3360 E Foothill Blvd Pasadena, CA 91107 Eek! Methinks not. We have been living with sleepless nights at the Stuart for years, the noise from roof top heating and air conditioning systems,a hot water boiler that is reminiscent of an earth quake, both sequel rattle and vibrate constantly, every night, noise through the ceiling and walls. I don't mind the barking dogs or listening to my neighbors conversations, that can happen anywhere. But be forewarned this building is not built well, getting old and not maintained to the standard on par with the high rent. The shopping center across east foothill blvd. has the parking lot vacuumed at 2:00 AM nightly with some kind of cyclone sounding truck and if not running the cyclone they are pressure washing sidewalks at 3:00am. The shopping center parking lot lights as well as all the Stuart exterior lighting are on all night, you cant leave your windows or shades open. "the 210" its actually noisier at night than at rush hour, cars and large trucks roaring past the Stuart. The buses come through the back of the building and idle all night they rattle the floors, who knew? That is just the half of it ,if that's not enough, i will update my review as the Management has jumped the rent +$600.00, legally as they pointed out. I feel its unethical, fortunately i can afford the price, however that's the last check they will get from me. I am moving as soon as i can. Watch for an updated review as my last 30 days at the Stuart winds down. Up Date 9/25/14: I have to add the fact that there is a serious problem with security, one guy who sit in the sprinkler room by the entrance of the garage, many times not looking up from his phone as we pass. No security during the day that i have ever seen and no management available at night just a answering machine, you can leave a message in an emergency, they will call you the next business day. I really feel for the one maintenance staff person. he has to wipe up the dog piss in the elevator nearly everyday. We seem to have an abundance of small dogs with even smaller bladders or perhaps nervous bladders. On one elevator ride recently, the control panel of the elevator was covered in piss, i suppose the owner was holding the scared little fellow and he started to piss and it went all over the walls. Look down as you walk around the building the floors and stair wells are filthy. lack of cleaning staff, the one guy is so busy mopping elevator floors that he never gets to the areas outside the elevators. A catch 22, if you don't keep 80% of the floors clean you cant keep the other 20% clean ether. Taking shoes off to enter your apartment is a must because the concrete floors in the halls and garage are disgusting, they do vacuum some hall carpet from time to time. Good luck with you apartment search, i will up date this review if things get better. Regards, ML
I lived right by it-... could have saved you the trouble of the $2,000 get out of your lease fee. Nothing up-scale about any of it and next time.... say "you feel threatened for your physical safety" ..... that's a sure way out. ;)
best place to live, like Vegas hotel!
moved in after a fire at our house that forced us into temporary housing. we chose this building for proximity to our house (a lot of our stuff survived and we were doing a lot of moving and supervision after the fire). don't be fooled by the price. plumbing is poor: takes about 2 mins for hot water in the shower, toilet often does not flush completely, hot water has gone off for an entire day twice in my stay of less than a year. dishwasher is loud enough to prevent conversation anywhere near it (id rather not be paying for one). there is hardly any hardwired lighting anywhere in the apartment, especially the bedrooms. half of the outlets in the apartment dont work. there are often loud parties (it is currently 10:20 on a monday night and i can hear several voices laughing loudly and drunkenly enough to distract me from writing this review. tenants have no care for sanitation: trash is often left in the hallways, left sitting next to the trash chute, and people leave trash in the parking garage all the time. the deafening fire alarm goes off about once a month forcing you to either use ear plugs or vacate the building completely (if you have pets it will drive them crazy to the point of temporary emotional damage). there is no one of authority in the building 24/7. many people walk their dogs off leash. a more notable story is when an off leash dog got in an altercation with our dog (on a leash) that my mother and father were walking. after the dogs were separated my father told the owner of the other dog to walk his dog on a leash, at which point the owner of the other dog shoved my father for no reason (my father is close to retirement and works at a job that directly benefits the quality of life for everyone who lives in the LA area). i have regularly been afraid to step in the elevator (occasionally because it simply did not work and would not allow me to use it). the 'amenities' that seem so attractive are occasionally unavailable for no explicable reason. front desk staff is helpful when it comes to selling, incompetent when it comes to followthrough and information. spend your money somewhere else. i suppose the one upside is that we havent been robbed yet =/
