Do not move here. I tried to give this place a chance. There is no such thing as courtesy or customer service in this properties culture. There was so much wrong with the apartment I moved into, you can tell they do not do a thorough check before they move you in, and they wont allow you to pick a different apartment (I tried the SAME day). Ill list a few: With apartment living you will expect for them to be slow with maintenance repairs of course, but I moved in and my oven didn't work and it took them about a month to replace it.... My dishwasher doesn't work either, and it's missing parts. It also had mold in it. All in all I am still waiting for them to replace or fix it, since a service request made in November. The walls are thinner than dorm rooms, WAY thinner, I can literally hear my upstairs neighbor's bathroom activities, in detail, poop plopping into the toilet or piss streaming, it's that detailed. I can also hear my neighbor's parties about 6 days a week, and even "quiet" conversation. To this I don't complain about my neighbors but the poor quality of the apartments, on top of them knowing this, they do "renovations" on the apartment next door at 7am and literally knock my stuff off the walls. I haven't received any apology, nor did they even warn me beforehand they would be doing renovations starting whichever day. They cut off the water, OFTEN, in the morning, and do not send out courtesy calls or even emails to let you know, or they'll drain the pipes so you think you're about to wash your face and there is dirt pouring out of the faucet. The laundry facilities are pretty horrible, there's half of the washers and dryers that do not work, that they wont fix, and that take your money. They take down your warning to others that the machines on the certain half don't work, because they are clearly benefiting from it. There are no side walks, and drivers get antsy at the walkers for walking on the side of the street, because the streets are narrow. Never mind walking in the "grass" because there is dog poop there often. The noise: at my building this couple is ALWAYS fighting, she's throwing his clothes out, he calling her names. And even when they aren't fighting outside he (who I gather is NOT the resident) is outside cursing her out, at ANY time of the day. They refuse to fix my heat, I went and got a thermometer to make sure I'm just not freezing all the time, my apt never got higher then about 45 degrees when the weather was in the teens, and the heat was almost at 80. My vents don't work, they refuse to clean/ replace them.... The maintenance people try to hit on you even though they're old enough to be you're grandparent. (but that has nothing to do with the apartment complex per say) Just do not move here, they're not very professional either, and the security is far from friendly, you wont even have to engage with them to figure that out (particularly the woman with the locs).
i love it i recently moved from landmark at mountain view were i got robbed. they took over 10,000 dollars worth of stuff. i had no heat or air no one would fix it. I had a new born in 100 degree weather. Im just saying this place is way better no crime. Everyone's friendly and maintenance has Always been ontime i love everyone in the office especially Erica. Apartment isnt the best looking but its what you payfor. I have a family and it will due until i have enough money to buy my house. its comfortable and we made it work . Great place to save money and live comfortably.
Honestly, I've lived here for three years. I needed a place that was cheap while I was in college and not far of a commute downtown, Oak Tree Villas was fine. I've never incurred any theft or damage. (Knocking on wood). That's why you protect your belongings with insurance. Living in the city, you will be see theft and crime. I lived in Brookhaven and it was the same thing. The place is cheap and great for someone on a budget. The maintenance needs to be improved. However, that's the con of apartment living. If you lived in a home, you would have to fix repairs on your time and dime. The community has improved and with the right staff it will continue to do so. I do not use the laundry facility, go off-site.
I am a current resident of Oak Tree Villas. No need for me to explain. Just gonna list my opinionated pros and cons. Pros: -Very Convienent location. - Easy access to MARTA (literally accross the street, no bus ride needed.) - Easy quick access to I-285 and Memorial Dr. - Friendly neighbors. - The gate actually works. (Just don't tailgate. It aint worth it.) Cons: - This complex is Dekalb Police and Avondale Estates Police "mini" precinct. They are always patroling the complex. Its enough to make your dog paranoid. - Very slow at renovating. - The roads need to be dug up, smooth out the bottom dirt and re-asphalted. Why? Trust me if you came through, you would find out. Its so bad that its enough to knock your car out of line. - Sidewalks would be nice. - The rear gate adjacent to Covington Hwy. needs to be in operation. I dont care, if they need to build a small guard shack there, I would help out myself. With that rear gate not working, it screws up people's GPS when in Navigating to Clubhouse Circle East. Other than that overall I think it is a decent place to live if your single, in a cute lil relationship or in school, then this is a fair place to live. Id recommend it.
Honestly, like most things in life, you get what you pay for. Do not come here, seeing the cheap rent, and expect the most amazing service ever. That's just dumb. If you want to save money, and you're not too picky about dogs or some noise from neighbors or small things like that, this is a good place to seriously check out. Yes, there's renovations going on all over, but from what I've read of other reviews here, that was a very necessary thing. I for one am glad I don't have an apartment with mold spores and bugs. As far as the gates go, there are days when one or both sides will be down, but the max I've seen them be down for so far is about a week. And there is ALWAYS a guard at the guard station at the gates. 8am, 12pm, 4pm, 9pm, 4am, whatever time. My schedule is crazy and I'm in and out at all hours, and I have never seen that post empty. To me, that's pretty freaking impressive. The laundry facility is not bad, and not expensive at all. Coming from a woman who never used the laundry facilities before in other apartments, I actually like doing my laundry there. You can socialize, if that's your thing, or they have a track that goes around a small pond right next to the building if you want to get in a little exercise between washer and dryer cycles. I've been here about 3 months now, and the only major issue I had was from maintenance when I first moved in (and whoo-boy, THAT was a true test of the strength in my last nerve). But the ladies and guys in the office I've spoken to have all been very nice and helpful, Miss Latasha especially was great when I was trying to move in. And the neighbors I've met are all very friendly, so even as a single woman on my own I don't feel the least bit uneasy. The long and short of it is this: Oak Tree Villas is a good place to come to if you need someplace cheap but clean and safe. You might need to get a stranglehold on your patience when dealing with maintenance, but if you want instant service like that, you're going to need to go to a place that makes you fork out a lot more cash. The people are nice, and the office personnel are professional and polite.
