1200 a month in rent for a brokendown slum of an apartment. We noticed that the doors were cracked and banged up like they have been beaten and the seal under the door destroyed, but we were assured that would be fixed before we moved in. After we moved in, we quickly realized that the doors weren't fixed and there was plenty of other problems as well. When we previewed the apartment before leasing, I noticed the air freshener was really strong, but didn't think much of it at the time. When we moved the whole apartment stunk because of the uncleaned sludge backing up in the sink's disposal. The bathtub didn't drain because it is backed up with a pound of hair. The bathroom stink/wall was covered in black mold. AND the apartment is infested with very large cockroaches. This place is a nightmare, disgusting. Don't let the fancy updated fixtures fool you. There are big problems underneath! I have now been living here a month. They did promptly rip out the sink of mold, but we are still waiting for them to replace it. They have sprayed for the roaches, but they are still here. We have been here a month and still haven't unpacked because we are afraid of our things being infested with roaches so out things are in storage. AND we are still paying 1200 in rent to live here. If things get worse we will probably have to get a lawyer involved. It's terrible! The preserve looks so nice on the outside, we had no idea how terrible this place would be, It is just wrong to charge rent for such horrible living conditions. I never leave posts about buisnesses, but this place has been beyond a nightmare and I feel I need to warn people. I feel just terrible when I drive by the leasing office and see prospective customers in there. I really wish someone had warned me. I would not recommend these apartments to anyone. The picture below shows the bare walls from where the fixtures were ripped out to remove the mold, which was one month ago.
Greedy and Dishonest. Pet owners beware!! I paid a $300 non-refundable deposit and $18 a month to live in my 2-bedroom with my 9 lbs. dog. My dog did have an accident in one spot in the 1,200 sq. ft. apt. The complex "professionally cleaned" the carpet as a reward for my first year lease renewal. After 2 years of living here, I moved out leaving the apartment completely clean. The complex sent me a $661 bill to replace the ENTIRE apartment's carpet plus another $102.78 in trumped up "utilities" (even though utilities are paid to Nashville Electric --not the complex). Worse still, I called the the complex office, the Nashville central office and the Colorado UDR headquarters to try to discuss these charges and arrange a payment plan. The first two said they could not make any changes to the billing cycle. The Colorado office offered to set up a payment plan and call me back. They never called back and turned the account over to a collections agency becuase it was past 21 days since the bill was issued. The collections agency told me they could challenge the charges but would have to let the bill hit my credit. The Colorado folks then told me they could not set up a payment plan becuase the account had already gone to collections. Several others have complained about this problem online. Greedily overcharging renters seems to be UDR's method of operation.
I am sad to see this complex go down hill to this point. I loved it the first year with Julie and several employees have left. I have seen many problems, reported them to management and nothing is ever handled or resolved. EVER. I promise that they will gossip about you and any complaining, but not address the real issues of people breaking their lease policies and bothering the other renters. ...late hours of BIG beeping moving truck on a weeknight after 10pm and was told that "this is apartment living and maybe this isn't the right place for you." That was it...I'd had enough of being ignored. Yes, the grounds and pool are nice. But again, if you ever have a problem with noise, trash or even watching a hit and run car accident - management will not address the problem. They charge you $20 a month for trash yet they allow people to sit their trash out at their doors a day or two before pick up.They never fine anyone as stated in the lease because the problem never stops. Makes the place look plain trashy. The breezeways and lights in the breezeways were never cleaned the entire 2 years I was there - full of bugs, gum, beer cans, etc. The front gate always has problems and the neighbors are not friendly. The gym needs to be cleaned so badly. And there were many many emails sent out warning about car break ins so it isn't as safe as one may think. Stay away!
Lived here for two years. The staff was great while Julie was there but it went downhill from there. Upon move out they took nearly $700 for "carpet replacement". In other words, they are trying to charge me for normal wear and tear. There were no tears or holes or rips or anything that would be anything other than normal wear and tear. Fact is, this "luxury" complex replaces the carpet each time they bring in a new renter and they are just trying to get me to foot some of the bill. This is against the law in Tennessee. I also paid $100 dollars for their "express clean" service that is supposed to clean the apt upon my moving out. They then charged me an additional $25 to clean the carpets (they do this for free when you are living there.) So basically they charged to to clean the apt (including the carpets), charged me to replace the carpets and then charged me to clean the carpets AGAIN. Basically they are looking for any way to keep not have to give me back my deposit money probably hoping I don't know the law and won't complain. They are sorely mistaken. Based on the other review here, it looks like I'm not the only one that has had this problem with this apartment complex. I have already contacted my attorney and would encourage anyone else with this issue to do the same.
My apartment became filled with black mold and they said it was my fault although it was due to their faulty air conditioning system. They never offered me any kind of re-reimbursement for the inconvenience, didn't offer to put me in an alternate living space while they repaired the damage meaning I had to sleep on my couch for two weeks while they removed the drywall and made the repairs, and then wound up evicting me because I demanded some type of compensation for the inconvenience. The management here sucks and could care less about the welfare of their residents. They only care about money. Pleased DO NOT move into this horrible residence.
