Disappointed generally by the services that the apartment company offered. We paid a monthly fee for a service that took out the trash on certain times during the week. It sounds ok on the surface but what actually happened is that the neighbors, taking advantage of this poorly managed system, leaves their smelly and disgusting trash out during the daytime, bringing in flies and other nasty bugs around the doorstep so that when we leave for work and come back, there is this constant buildup of garbage that makes this apartment so disgusting. We never imagined that something like this even existed before we came to this apartment and so we never thought it would be so nasty to live in this apartment. Disappointed by the apartment itself. We were misled by the pretty pictures and it turned out that most of them were pictures of the community facilities, the clubhouse, and the leasing offices. These were parts that we paid for in our monthly rent but we almost never used! The facilities were pretty but even the gym, which was almost always crowded during the times my husband had available for working out, were very much lacking. All the cabinets, drawers, and cupboards had a nasty, dank, odor to them that smelled like urine. It took us months to remove the smell but whenever we have visitors they can smell it. They claimed that they renovated our apartment but the carpet was old, unsanitary, and had bugs in them. The renovations were strictly superficial ones. Disappointed by the neighbors. On many occasions we can hear our next door neighbor conducting domestic violence among each other at night when we are tired at night and trying to rest before going to work. We often saw teenage kids roaming around at night doing suspicious things when they should have been at home. So even the standards for the people they take in are garbage.
We moved here 2 years ago from out of state. My dogs had NEVER had fleas. 2 weeks at this place and they were covered in them! They were in the carpets, which had stains around the edges when we moved in. When I complained of fleas, they did send an exterminator, but unfortunately it didn't work. When I told them the fleas were still a problem, the manager at the time said there was nothing more she could do, and that my dogs had probably brought them in, so it wasn't her problem. I had moved from a super dry, cold climate where we didn't have a flea problem. These units are infested because they don't clean properly in between tenants, and the whole complex sits in swampy standing water during the rainy season. We moved out about 6 months ago and what a shocker, not a single flea to be found since! I could go on about other issues this place has, but it looks like others have covered them.
I like nothing about this place. I've taken them to court once for unlawfully towing and impounding my vehicle. Their reason was that I parked in a small parking lot and should've known it was not a parking spot. Obviously, I won since there weren't any signs or stripes showing where I parked was unlawful. Now, they just charged $700 for a carpet cleaning after I vacated the apartment. DO NOT LIVE HERE. seriously not worth the trouble. I am now taking them to court for that. It's unjustly that apartments can treat people like that and it's time we say no more!!!
Such a difficult time with the management team. Had problems way to many times with billing issues, the apartment was constantly needing to be fixed. Not one month into moving in the dishwasher flooded the kitchen. Our above neighbors were so loud and the walls are paper thin. No one picks up their dog poop so the grassy areas are just littered with dog poop, no one ever got fined for not picking it up however it was threatened. Every time I went in to ask a question about a bill or just in general the front desk lady never had an answer and I always had to wait for management. Upon moving out we had learned that the apartment used our security deposit money without our permission on several charges leaving up with only our pet deposit when we moved out and the apartment then trying to tell us we owe them $500 in fees. Even fighting them and trying to figure out how these charges came about and why they used our security deposit we had to end up paying the fee or they threatened to send it to a collecting agency ruining out credit. Save your self the trouble and live anywhere else but this craphole Oh and you will NEVER find parking. EVER. My husband and I were always parking several buildings away and usually on the weekends either on the street or in a completely different part of the apartment complex. That parking lot is sketchy at night too.
Parking can be a nightmare if you don't live by the road. To guarantee a spot closer to your place, you have to pay extra for a covered spot or a garage. Also if you live near the road, the children that take the bus are really noisy and obnoxious. If you don't work during the week, don't even think about sleeping in. It's hard to sleep with kids screaming outside. Speaking of children, my boyfriend almost ran over one. He was not at fault. The kids walk on the roads and play around the entrances a lot. There are some really bad blind spots near the entrance signs. When the weather is good, you have to be careful. The apartment I was in had poorly placed windows and very poor natural lighting as a result. Light from the enclosed deck was only indirect light that was bounced off from the other apartments. I couldn't grow much from my deck. Also, my upstairs neighbor would water their plants and my deck would get muddy. On a positive note, I barely heard my neighbors next to me, but I could hear the ones upstairs late at night. I'm pretty sure they worked the night shift. Everyone around me was pretty nice. My problem was with the apartments that blocked my light. There was more than one place that didn't get rid of their Christmas trees and they let them sit on their porch till the hot months. I told management and they said that they had notified the tenants. It's crazy that they didn't crack down on it sooner because they require you to have rental insurance before you can stay. People with dogs will illegally allow their pooches to wander around without a leash. I almost ran over someone's dog because it chased my motorcycle. There is a very small fenced in area for dogs, but it's right next to one of the two garbage areas. There aren't enough garbage compactors and they often get so full that people leave their bags next to it. Who thought this was a good idea? People haven't been cleaning up after their dogs. As a result, children who play in the grass may step in poop. Some neighbors have set up cameras facing these grassy areas to try to catch the perps. The road that leads to the apartments is riddled with tons of deep pot holes that keep on getting worse because heavy commercial trucks drive down the road. The place that I was in was renovated. I didn't have much break on me. When things did, it was easy to get a hold of the maintenance company and they usually showed up the same day I reported it during the week. If it was an emergency fix, they would show up that day even on the weekend. When I moved, I gave one of the staff my new address. It turns out it was never put in the computer. After almost a month went by, I contacted them. It turns out they sent it to the old address. I'm not sure why they didn't call me. They have my phone number. The Pointe charged me a $42 application fee, $200 application deposit/holding fee, $200 security deposit, $200 pet fee, and a $200 pet deposit on top of rent, and pet rent. Utilities are not included in the rent. When I left, they started charging for mandatory garbage container pick up in front of people's doors. I deep cleaned the house with my brother when my back was hurt. So I was really mad to find out that they charged me a cleaning fee. They told me that they do that no matter what and that it was in the contract. I never saw it in the contract. Needless to say I was pissed. No one has time to waste deep cleaning for nothing. They also charged me for steam cleaning and pet pee enzymes. My cat never peed on the carpet. Just because the carpet was a little dirty, does not mean that there is pee on the carpet. The maintenance guy that did the walk through with me was so happy that my place was spotless and nothing was broken. It took him less than 5 minutes to do a walk through. Why the hell was I charged for all this shit? Out of $400 of refundable fees, I got back less than $100. This was one of the worst places I've lived in.
