Decent rent. Utilities are flat rate. Air conditioning and heating is on a bi annual cycle (meaning only A/C for six months, heat for six months... Really annoying for me). Close to the highway is a plus. Pool is rarely occupied which is nice if you actually choose to use it. I'm moving out because of personal location preferences.
Pros: I really never review anything but this deserves it. I lived there for about 3 years and never really had too many complaints. It is good if you are starting off or need something on the spot. It is also good if you like being left alone. No one really bothers you and it's pretty quite all day and night. Even though it's advertised as gated, it's really not but its safe. They have private security that does walk patrols and in my three years didn't have an issue. I actually left with the door wide open and came back and nothing was missing from the apartment. A lot of parking and spaces are huge, shaded parking is first come first serve but at least with my neighbors we always grabbed the same ones. The common areas, pools, and parks are very clean and maintained in working order. Other than having new staff constantly they are very friendly and helpful. Why you should think twice: The AC units are chillers and they decide when they go and off. On the plus side you can buy a window unit and not worry about the electric bill because of the flat rate utility. Water gets shut down constantly and sometimes without warning. Also your rent will go up about every 6 months so keep that in mind. No matter how much you clean, mop, sweep, vacuum you will always have some sort of crawler in the kitchen and smell in the place. I didn't have roaches but ants and had to spray once a month to keep them out. Unless you talk to the office manager, supervisor or lead, you will never see another person again. Turnover rate for employees there is impressive. Say good bye to the deposit. They will somehow manage to keep it. They will bill you for carpet replacement regardless if you have it professionally cleaned so don't even worry about it. When moving out make sure you give them minimum 60 day notice. I gave 30 and even though I told them I would turn in my keys on my end date I still have to pay the extra 30 days, they get to double dip for a while. Also don't move in with kids. There is a lot of college students and they smoke pot outside or with the windows open and even though the complex has no control over that it still something to think about. Service request take a couple of days to get fixed unless it's an "emergency" . I had issues with my AC all three summers until I finally got to the manger who got it fixed immediately.
Been living here for almost 2 years now. I think I've been able to reach the front desk through a call maybe once out of 25-30 calls. Left voicemails, never get a call back. 87 degrees out. A/C is STILL not on. Who runs this place?..
My 11 months living at Solara was average to mediocre. What really was the icing on the cake after moving out was the surprise move out bill. Don't expect to get your deposit back. There are mandatory fees, carpet cleaning, basic cleaning (which I didn't get charged for), your last utility bill, and what ever their run of the mill carpet cleaning company feels needs to be done. Absolutely 10000% make sure you are present at the final walk through. And to make it worse, by the time this bill arrived in my mail box (thanksgiving delays the mail), I had 4 days to pay it. So I called and explained the situation and Ashley tells me I am more that welcome to pay the collection agency... Are you kidding me? Stay away from this place, and don't ignore the other reviewers like I did.
It's a place to live.. Over priced.... Rude people in the office... They seem to not care and they don't talk to each other or know their own policys ... Can take to 3 different people and get 3 completly different answers.. The 3 pools are nice. And it's decent enough... But maybe not worth the price..
