On top of the other Google reviews, which I shared the same issues with, I'd like to add that my former unit from 7 years ago, is apparently haunted! I was in #P104 across from the pool. I saw dark shadows in my room. Would hear soft pitter-pattering up and down the hall as if somebody was running on the carpet but there was nobody there. Glasses would shatter unexpectedly as if shot by a bullet (but there's no bullet). Weird dreams. All of this stopped when I moved and hasn't happened since. I'm really curious if anyone else who lived here experienced the same thing. Oh, and the tree outside my apartment was so mature that the roots would grow into the toilet pipes and the maintenance man would have to bring the snake and pull up tree roots through the toilet. A lot of petty crime and while I lived there, a man in a drug deal gone bad was shot in the next building over.
This Business is not BBB Accredited Solara at Mill Avenue This place is the worst! False advertising at its best they claim they have air conditioning but it really is just an air system that rarely even works, The apartments look nothing like the pictures. The water is shut off more then it is actually on. The "security" here is a joke. Not only is there none, my car has been keyed and laundry stolen. Dishwasher has never worked, The whole apartment is pretty much on one breaker so you can't use the microwave and have anything else plugged in let alone in use. A lot of drugs being used out in the open. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Interesting how more people pay to break out of the lease here (which is ridiculous and expensive) then choose to stay.
I do not normally complain about things but this place has forced my hand. I honestly do not know where to start. My fiance and I were looking for places in the area and though this one "was" the best. Looks are deceiving.. They botched the paperwork before we were even in the place. They sold us a unit that wasn't vacant yet so they made arrangements for us in another one..three months later we were able to move in the one we wanted..Even though the mess up was their mistake, they allowed us less than 24 hours to move from the units. And they do not clean the unit we move to..We were forced into a horrendous unit...but we made it our own and cleaned it better than they could...But then the FERAL CATS came into play. They lived in the crawl space above our unit and we could hear them run around everyday. We told Solara multiple times yet the only thing they did was make a hole in our closet to get to the crawl space...What a marvelous idea! They didn't find the cats and laced a shoddy cover on the hole. Unfortunately three weeks later, the cats fell down and one hid in the closet and the other under our bed. Nothing is scarier than having coats hiss at you when you come into the closet. I removed that one with gloves but didn't find the other one til i was sleeping and its paws batted my head underneath my bed and bedpost area...we completed our lease and never had pay issues but STAY AWAY!!! Then they have the audacity to mail us our last cleaning bill. Insult to injury. BTW the cats are still up there. No joke.
This place is a joke! Let me save you the time and just tell you not to move here. I didn't listen to warnings, and I should have. The pictures on the website are a complete and utter joke as to what everything really looks like. It makes it look like this is some paradise, and it's an old, beat up piece of trash. At least the room I was in was. Like others have said...ROACHES! I had them come spray several times, but that doesn't help the fact that there were huge holes for piping in the walls where roaches could just freely come through. They would come through the AC. They would come out the electrical outlets. They were coming from outside my door. Also, I had a hole in the corner so they could come in. My door wasn't sealed entirely, and I would have geckos come into my apartment...I had to be so careful when moving so as to not take any pest with me. So ridiculous! All my friends would come over and just tell me to leave this stupid place and move to an actually decent apartment complex. They have a 24/7 gym that they closed for like, a month or so while I was living there. The staff could be more helpful if there wasn't dumb rules about everything. They don't bend or help for anyone. My new apartment complex works very well with everyone, and everyone loves it. At the Solara, it was like, "Yah, we don't care about your situation, we have these stupid rules, and as long as we get our money, even if you get hosed, we don't care. We'll just find someone else to move in and pay us more money." They have little policies in there to get more money. Most places let someone take over a lease. Nope! Not here! Here, you have to give a 60 day moveout notice, and then pay 2 months extra rent if you need to move out before your lease. Stupid?!?! YES! Only place I've ever been or heard of that does that. Most places will gladly let someone take over the lease. This was just stupid, but I gladly paid the money and left this place. The staff puts on little parties now and then which aren't really that exciting, and honestly, with the other problems here, nobody cares. The key to the pool and gates didn't work. On top of everything else, I didn't give a crap about changing it. I just used the time I would have done that to look for another apartment and move out, which was the greatest thing about this!
ROACHES!! I moved in June of last year and just finally.. thank God.. moved out. Our apartment had an infestation from roaches to ants for the first 6months. After the ants were gone the apartment got over run with roaches. They bombed the place at least 3 times and still roaches remained. So gross waking up in bed to a roach laying next to you. Definetly do NOT recommended this place to anyone. The price is okay.. but the maintenance is horrible. We would sit for months with a leaky AC unit and all they would do is vacuum out the water and say its all fixed. Move any where but here.. don't waste your money.
