I have mixed feelings about this place. The neighborhood is nice and quiet, the gym and pool are nice, and we haven't had too many issues. But. I have never had so many ant problems as I've had here. No roaches, but we've had so many issues with ants we just stayed on the list for them to come spray and it keeps them away. The lady who comes to our apartment for pest control is wonderful by the way! Our appliances are also outdated beyond reason. Only one of our large burners on the stove works, the markings to tell you which knob controls which burner are completely worn off, and the oven cooks unevenly. Maintenance didn't really do anything to fix it, and you have to hip check our dishwasher to close it. So it's not a god awful place to live, I feel safe here, but it really could be so much better.
This apartment sounded great when I was reading about the property and prices, but I wouldn't know if that is true because the staff ignored me and blew off my appointment. I scheduled a time to view the property and discuss leasing options, but at the time of the appt I couldn't get anyone to let me in the gate. 20 minutes later, someone finally answers my call and I tell them what happened, all she said was, "well are you at the gate now?" and of course I wasn't going to block the gate for that long, so I had pulled across the street. From the 15 seconds it took me to drive back to the gate she wouldnt answer again. I called several times and left voicemails and never got a response. This was a week ago and no one ever bothered to call. Very unprofessional and I can imagine it's a nightmare to actually live there if you can't ever reach the office staff!
I've lived here nearly three years, and, while the apartments were pretty nice at first (for the price), the quality has definitely gone down. The rent on a 1200 sq ft, 2 bedroom was 700 a month without utilities, which seemed pretty good. The rent has gone up around 150 dollars over the last three years without any significant improvements to the apartments. As other reviewers have stated, the apartments are moldy (you can actually smell it, sometimes), and regularly have problems with ants and cockroaches. In the last couple years, the apartment management started charging for required pest control, but the pest control only comes if you specifically put in a request. All in all, it was pretty decent, especially for the price, a few years ago, but the price has gone up as the apartments themselves decline.
Pretty nice place to live. It's relatively quite and the location of the apartment is very conveniently placed near the interstate and 316. The only thing that I have recently discovered is that there is mail theft occurring and been occurring according to the usps. I had a small package stolen from my mailbox. You may want to look into getting a post office box if you move here.
I know someone who lived here and this place is a nasty, moldy place to live and the staff could care less if you have a problem. The few times I visited I felt like I needed to take a shower when I left. Between the smell of mildew and marijuana, and the piles of dog poop that the owners didn't pick up, it was disgusting. And to top it off, their deposit was suppose to be refunded "within 30 days" and almost 60 days later they are still waiting on the check that they were told "was mailed" a week ago. After contacting their corporate office they were told they have no record of the check being cut. I wouldn't recommend this place to a convict. But since they obvisously don't do criminal screenings, they probably already live there. There are a lot of nice places out there. Stay away from Carrington Court.
