You will never find a more trustworthy and fast maintenance anywhere. These guys are really good. Anything you have wrong even if your fault they are at your place within hours or mins if really wrong like the flood I caused today. They are all around so I went outside and found one in 2 mins and they saved the day from my mistake and left with the kitchen cleaner than when they came in. I have lived at some nice places too. Plus I leave my valuables out knowing they can always be trusted.
I've really been nothing but pleased with the AVA staff and maintenance team since I've moved in. It's an older apartment complex and there will be occasional issues, but the performance of personnel the few times I've had questions/issues is really how I rate the quality of life here. The folks who work here are great and their service is top-notch. The renovations have made for constant improvements and extended the life of the property. PB as a whole (and this apartment complex specifically) attracts a younger clientele, so you've got to manage your expectations and expect some loud music or a barking dog every now and then. As an experienced renter who has lived all over, I'm happy to call AVA PB home.
I lived here for 3 years and loved it!! The location is perfect, 2 blocks to the bay and an easy run/bike ride to the beach and to shops and bars. There is a new restaurant right next door and coffee shop and café a few blocks away. The large pool and hot tub area is really nice and a great place to meet new people. The studio was the perfect size for me living by myself and not having a lot of stuff. The property has recently been renovated with new floors, kitchens, etc and the gym and club house are brand new. The staff are amazing, very friendly and go above and beyond to help out. I was sad to leave here when I moved to north county for work. I'm really surprised to read some of the negative reviews, I had a truly great experience living here.
The worst thing about this place is they raise the rent every year. it was 100 for the first two years and last raise was about $200 a month, which priced me out. There are way too many gates, I cant even walk my dog without it feeling like fort knox, but the sad part is that any idiot can get in without any issues. Also, the staff there never ever pick up their phones. This place is perfect for douchy young tourist, college kids [who bunk like 5 in a 1 bedroom], and cokeheads who party all night. Stay away from this place....
Let me start off by saying DO NOT LIVE HERE. The best way to describe this community is imagine you have diarrhea and you take a dump in a toilet bowl full of glitter - it may look shiny & fancy, but underneath it's still a massive, steaming pile of $#!T. A few specifics: The walking gates never lock/work. They claim it's a "gated community" but even Hellen Keller could walk right up in this thing, easy peasy. The parking garage gates never work. They're either wide open or shut and the underground sensors never work so I'm forced to rock my car back and forth for 10 minutes praying somebody is leaving so it'll open from the inside. I've actually had to talk to the leasing office about this on THREE separate occasions and they still can't seem to get it right. CONSTANT CONSTRUCTION starting at a firm 8am. I signed my lease a month prior to my move-in date, so you would assume they'd have taken care of any necessary repairs prior to me moving in. WRONG! We were forced to vacate our unit (which we paid for) for 10 hours - uncompensated of course, and had repair men inside our unit for the rest of the week. They now have the hot tub closed for over 2 months (also uncompensated) and have ruined our view with these extremely ugly 8 foot tall fences. Different rules apply to different tenants - we were told we are not allowed to have anything hanging outside in our patio area, yet I know of at least 8 different units with items affixed. When I spoke to the leasing office about this her response was "well that side of the community is not my responsibility". That's the type of answer I'd expect from a 5 yr old, not a Community Manager Professional. There's some other, less major things, but I think I've made my point... So again, let me end with - DO NOT LIVE HERE.
