I would not recommend Village Green of Farmington Hills for a number of reasons. To begin, the apartments themselves are just not very nice. The carpet is very old and the bathrooms are not nice at all. Our bathroom got very moldy pretty quickly. Furthermore, the balconies are not very nice either as the wood on the railings are chipping a lot. We also had many water spots on our ceilings over the course of our time there which leads me to believe there were problems with the roof. Additionally, our rent was raised pretty substantially our second year living there. Our rent went from $850/month to $915/month. That's an increase of 65 dollars/month and for what? We only had a one bedroom and one bathroom apartment. We also had many problems with out door frame which made it very difficult to lock our doors with the cold weather this year. It was extremely frustrating. And lastly, the thing that upset us the most was towards the end of our time living there. We decided that we were going to paint our apartment to make it feel more like home when we first moved in. We painted light colors and was told this was okay by management when we first moved in. However, upon moving out, we were told that we HAD to paint the walls back or we would be charged $700. First of all, living at other apartments, we know that before a new tenant moves in, the apartment complex must put a fresh coat of paint on the walls. EVERY other apartment complex we have lived in had just painted over our paint colors and had not made a big deal about it whatsoever. But not Village Green. They decided after we had spent more than $20,000 there in rent over 2 years that they also wanted an additional 700 dollars from us. RIDICULOUS. These are all the reasons I would not recommend living here. I heard Citation Club is much nicer and it's just up the road.
Be wary when signing the rental application at this complex. They hide in the application wording that allows them to keep your 150 dollar deposit if you decide not to live at their complex. I would recommend you check out Green Hill instead in 48335 instead of 48331 they are much more professional and offer larger apartments at cheaper prices and some of the apartments have select included utilities.
A relative lives here. Seems like an alright place
Good place to live - I moved in in Nov. 2010 so I don't know if the property manager changed between July and November, but I really like Village Green so far - service requests are promptly answered, the sidewalks & parking lots / roads are quickly plowed in the winter time, the apartment layout is beautiful, the location is close to the highway, yet also very green as well as being close to Meijer, Hillers, Kroger, etc. The only two things I could complain about - the area around the apt's is partially wetland and it seems that I see more mosquitos & other bugs here than I have at previous apt's. Also, the pool is closed because they have to do some emergency construction on it. That bummed me out - but hopefully it's fixed soon. On the plus side, there's a pond right in front of our apt and there are always swans/ducks plus sometimes a heron that hangs out. I'll most likely renew my lease when the time comes.
Let’s see, they rent to anyone now that the new Manager on site does not care about the property!!!! Honestly you can ask nicely for something to get done, and nothing is done. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL! I don’t have a clue what VILLAGE GREEN CORP IS THINKING TO HIRE THIS CHICK TO MANAGE THIS PROPERTY. EVERYTHING HAS BEEN GOING DOWN HILL IN THE LAST 6-8 MONTHS!!! DO NOT RENT HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO PAY A LOT OF MONEY FOR SOMETHING THAT IS WORSE THAN LIVING IN DETROIT! NOT JOKING!!!
