We recently moved from a home on the East Coast - first time living in CA as well, in an apartment in 30+ years. The Huntington Breakers (HB) property managers, Julie and her leasing, maintenance and operational staff, the apartment itself and location to the beach is beyond exceptional. The HB is very clean and all the renovations - once completed, will make the HB the envy of all other rental properties in Surf City USA. Everyone at the HB is positive and responsive and our living here has made our transition phenomenal.
I've been here at the Breakers for 31/2 years and have been enjoying my time here. I just wanted to say a few good words about our new manager Julie. I had a huge problem with something this morning and I was very upset. Julie helped to calm me down by suggesting a few great solutions. Thanks again Julie! PS I can't wait to see this place when all the construction is done; especially our new fitness center and our second pool! :)
Amazing. Cynthia and Loreena in the front office make life SO easy. they are willing to do whatever it takes to make the residents happy there. the renovations and remodeling are looking good and you cant beat the location for the price. huntington breakers is awesome, dont listen to these fools that bag on it because there are loud people and dogs.
First of all do not take the Yelp reviews into account. They do not allow negative posts. My apt was infested with little black bugs. There is a constant stream of drunk and drugged people using the pool and hot tub. If you live in any of the buildings facing the WallMart you will not get any sleep - this is the party zone. Security is non-existant and noise compliants are rarely ever followed up on. When you leave, Essex will keep your entire deposit citing normal end-of lease maintenance things like carpet cleaning and painting (i.e. things 90% of other rental complexes will not charge for). So why bother taking care of your place to begin with? The front office staff has a hard time attracting good people because once normal people find out how bad Essex screws tenants over, they usually wind up quitting. If you have a job, or kids, or plan on making the Breakers a long time stay....you will regret it.
DO NOT LIVE HERE!!! At first it was okay to live, and the leasing agent from the office was very nice. Guess what, the people in the office change all the time and by the time I ran into trouble, he was far gone and all that were left were people that didn't care about me. The manager, Ashley, at the leasing office spent most of the time yelling instead of politely speaking, taking into account I never caused trouble or paid late. There was a flea infestation next door, upstairs, and across the courtyard and they invaded my apartment as well. The Breakers "After Hours Maintenance" is a complete joke, nobody ever shows up, no matter what your problem is because it is just a call center. They sent out the exterminator once and I had to personally get rid of the fleas, I didn't even have an animal. Just because I made a big deal about it, they charged me an insane amount of money on my security deposit and I hardly got any of it back. You can hear the neighbor above you walk and stomp around because the roof has to be at most an inch thick! The motorcycle with illegal pipes starts up at 5:00 AM in the morning and revs up as it peels out and echoes down the entire parking lot corridor. By far the worst place I've ever stayed. It gave me high blood pressure entering those dumb "security" gates. Those gates were no good whatsoever because at least once a month they were sending out that people's cars were getting broken into. So much for that 24 hour security right? Find a better place. I'm sure there has to be something that gives you at least a little less of a headache for the same insane amount of money.
