When I originally looked at an apartment and signed the lease in December for a March move in, a large part of that was due to the management, who I LOVED. About a week before I moved in, the management changed. I've been in the apartment for a month and it seems that most of the transition pains have been ironed out. I haven't had any issues with maintenance. The apartments are beautiful inside, exactly as pictured online. It's a gated community and I have never felt unsafe at all. It is VERY dog friendly, with two fenced in dog parks and more doggy bag stations than I've ever seen! My ONLY complaint is that people don't pick up after their dogs and often let them run off leash. I've voiced my concerns to management and did get a response from the property manager. We'll see what comes of it, but it's not enough to make me write a negative review. I LOVE it here and don't plan on leaving any time soon!
This apartment complex has changed management 3 times in the past 2.5 years. The rent is constantly increasing for no new features. The dog parks are subpar at best, both have bushes dogs and run under and hide in/behind. The maintenance crew has let my dogs out and then proceeded to watch as I had to chase one around the apartment complex and didn't feel the need to apologize until I called management about the incident. A neighbor threw away a dead dog in their trash bin outside the apartment door. It is not worth the money. Find somewhere better to live.
I have lived at Ten Oaks since 2011. We are now on our 3rd Property Management Company. The 2nd company was called Cortland Partners and when they took over we went through major changes (all positive). One of which was an upgrade to all units. It was a pain sure, but it went smoothly for the most part and was well worth it. You will see lot of complaints regarding this but you have to realize that you are always going to experience a little pain when you have people in and out of your apartment for a significant amount of time. We are now called "Elysian at Ten Oaks" with the new management company and again - no complaints. This transition was so smooth that I didn't even know they had taken over until I walked into the office one day to ask a question. I'm pleased with the professionalism of everyone here. This property is VERY nice. Grounds are very well taken care of. In the summer the trees and flowers are just beautiful. Maintenance staff are ALWAYS out and about (I know because I work from home) and are very friendly. They stay business keeping everything running smoothly and clean. The pictures you see on the website ARE accurate. I know sometimes you look at pictures on the website and then it's nothing like that when you get there. The ONLY difference is of course the custom paint on the walls. Walls are all white unless you upgrade or paint accent walls yourself. Appliances, fixtures, lighting and flooring are beautiful. I live on the 3rd level so I only have the "faux" wood floors in my kitchen and bathrooms because obviously the noise would be too much for the tenants beneath me without some carpet. 1st floor apartments all have the "faux" wood flooring I believe. It's CLEAN! You will really love the apartments. I do wish that there weren't so many different fees. I, for example, would prefer not to have to pay an extra fee for trash vallet and take it myself and pocket that money :-) but it is what it is and I can live with that. Pest control is now up to $3 I believe - I have never seen pest control in my apartment but the great thing is I HAVEN'T NEEDED THEM. That should be a free service if you ask me. Still - not a complaint, I'm happy. Gates ALWAYS work and now there are speed breakers at the entrances so people can't just follow you in anymore which makes me happy, I feel safe. What else.... I just have nothing but positive things to say about living here. I absolutely love it. I frequent the local parks (GWINNETT COUNTY HAS THE BEST PARKS) - you have Alexander Park off of Sugarloaf not too far away as well as Rhodes Jordan park right up the street just past downtown Lawrenceville. But if you have dogs, we also have (2) enclosed dog parks here on the property! They are clean for the most part and shaded and my doggies just love to be let off of their leash to play. You can walk to restaurants and to the store from here. I also run quite a bit and it's safe to run on the sidewalks all around this area. If you are looking for a great place to live...come on to Ten Oaks.
Currently living here and not very happy at all. Over-night the management has changed and they are not as friendly as before nor do they seem to care about solving pre-existing issues. Although the apartments are decent there are a lot of problems...biggest one being sound proofing. I hear my neighbors thumping around upstairs, fighting and even going to the bathroom but nothing can be done. Downstairs neighbors blast music, smoke my living room when they grill on the patio and have loud parties late into the night every single weekend. I can hear highway noise at all times of day or night plus there is highway construction going on right outside my building which has been going on over a year. There is always black mold at the windows due to condensation. Pet owners never pick up after their dogs so watch where you step. Gate is sometimes left open for days at a time. People smoke weed on a regular anywhere you go even though we supposedly have police living here too. As soon as you step outside the property the area is very "ghetto", surrounded by assisted living places and homeless people roaming at night. Sad part is these apartments are as close to "decent" as you will get in lawrenceville and they truly suck so just get a house instead.
Moved in with Cortland and fell in love with the community. Danielle was okay but Tucker was the best! Always community events going on and the maintenance crew were ALWAYS out--rain or shine. Units have a modern look and feel with a nice open floor plan for a one bedroom, which sold me on moving there. Only complaint is that dog owners are bad at picking up after their dogs and the breezeways and stairs are dirty looking. BUT... The new company that just bought them and renamed it "Elysian at Ten Oaks" SUCK. Completely pushes a 4 star quality place to 2 just for horrible service. Good luck ever trying to contact Toni, the manager-- she leaves by 3pm weekdays and hardly works Saturday. So if you work a normal 9-5 job like most people, have fun trying to talk to someone who knows anything because you'll just get Amanda-- a leasing agent who really is just Toni's half-ass secretary who doesn't know anything that's going on and will probably forget you called (time to retire honey). The maintenance crew is barely out anymore... Instead they'll just hang out in the shed in front of the dog park at the front gate. Move here at your own expense. The apartments are nice but the staff is useless and uncaring.
