It's truly a shame that their buildings are old, but have been beautifully covered up with cosmetic upgrades to warrant higher rent. The low rating is for management, the local employees were all nice and trying to make due with what they have. I left within the first 30 days because they couldn't fix the squeaking boards completely in the apartment above me and the electric heating makes popping/cracking sounds and does not effectively warm the entire apartment. Heat or A/C basically will go right out your leaking/pretty/improperly installed newer windows and won't truly reach the middle of your long apartment. Your windows may not be locked when you first move in. You will be able to hear full conversations that your neighbors have and a child jumping off the couch above you will sound like thunder and make fixtures rattle and shake in your apartment on the first floor. It's going to be a little noisy in a first floor apartment, but this is worse than any place I have ever rented at. They offered to let me move at my expense and recommended I purchase A/C covers for their improperly covered/unsealed A/C units. They did attempt/or did eventually fix all of the following issues and maintenance was nice: outside door not meeting the floor with visible light, A/C not sealed to the wall and letting in visible outside light, broken washer buttons, rolling washer needing legs, sporadic hot water, little hot water, bathtub had mold under the lip of the shower topper, bathtub would not hold bath water and was replaced with a filthy older drain and plug, there were bugs dead and alive but the exterminator also left mouse traps, bedroom heater not working and shutting itself off, thermostat not working, water heater thermostat not working, sealed quarters to all windows to help stop the flow of outside air but you can still see the wind moving the blinds, carpet came up in spots during the first vacuum, the stove drawer pulled right out, and you're stuck with Comcast here and it has been 3 weeks without a working cable box with internet outages and brownouts for 1.5 weeks. All of the good things do not outweigh the bad things for me especially with how expensive the "upgrades" were in comparison to the much cheaper units they later offered me. If you want to be able to sleep soundly or enjoy some peace in your home, do not get a first floor unit here.
it was a nice apartment for temporary means but wouldn't want to live here for an extended period of time. one reason being I hate window ac units and even our small one bedroom apartment couldn't stay cool. if we ran the unit to a comfortable temp then the electric bill was way to expensive. so it was sacrificing our comfort to afford it. rent is expensive. the dog park was our main draw to the complex. it was nice but not maintained well. owners wouldn't pick up after the dogs and the trash would overflow.
I love the surrounding area... it's very scenic. The complex is very close to a bridge and is Philly adjacent. The neighbors are polite and the staff is helpful.
