Well just moved in today and yes office staff very nice.. and maintenance was in today and did few things i asked.. but after being here all nite i started noticing more and more things i have a list of 9 things i need done immediately.. and im a maintenance guy myself and wouldn't mind fixing a small thing here or there but 9.. i just hope this situation can be taken care of very timely..
I have lived here for a year and a half move in prices are great. but once they get you on the lease and you are here. The following year they charge you for the water. They charge you an increase amount of rent. Then they charge you a service fee for sending you a letter on your door every month. Which is some sort of billing charge. I'm sorry isn't that their job to do the billing why should we have to pay extra for it ? the maintenance staff is terrible. They never fix things the first time correctly they take forever to fix anything . Then when they do fix them they have to come back . I had my closets doors replaced they got white paint on my clothes, that were in the closet and paint on my table beside the closet. I called the office I voiced my concerns no one ever contacted me to discuss it even though he said he would forward it to the manager. I feel the apartments are very overcharged for the quality that you get. I really need a two bedroom but I know that they're going to overcharge. Sad to say my daughter has to sleep in the dining room . If They kept the rent same more people would live here longer. I'm sure their excuse is some kind of Harrisburg area increasing for this area . I just looked on their website the move ins are always cheap that hasn't changed . And if it was an increase in the area then why wouldn't the website change for the move in cost? Because that's not true. There's always people moving out in the the middle of the night breaking leases. I wish I could find somewhere else to go but with my daughter in school that's impossible. I already changed her schools once to move here and I'm not doing that again.
I moved into The Brook in September. So far, I really like living here. I was very reluctant to move here due to their reviews and the negative reputation of the complex. However, the leasing staff were so nice, and the price for an apartment with a washer and dryer was unbeatable. The apartment complex is very quiet, at least my unit. I don't hear anyone on either side of me, and so far I don't have a downstairs neighbor. My neighbor has a dog, and I don't even hear that. It's definitely much more quiet than some other places I have lived. I hope it stays that way! The neighbors keep to themselves and don't bother anyone. The apartment itself looks great. They put in all new floors in the bathroom and kitchen and it looks nice. There are some older features in the apartment that if they were replaced would make a world of difference such as the bathroom sink. Mine is eroding and it looks gross. The bathroom is my only complaint with the apartment itself because of the outdated look of the faucets and the fact that the light and fan turn on together which is annoying to me. The reviews about maintenance are half accurate. At first, a lot of things needed fixed in my apartment. The dryer needed fixed twice, the washer was installed incorrectly, and the tub needed fixed three times. I didn't even call for my closet being stuck because I was constantly calling for things to get fixed. They didn't fix the tub until I basically flooded the downstairs apartment lol. It only takes them a day to fix the issue usually, except for the tub, that took several phone calls. Honestly, this place is better than any of the other places I've lived at. I can't stress enough that the place is quiet. I think they are trying to turn things around and are getting more picky about who lives there. I sure hope this continues to be a positive experience.
I'm living here now and my main issue is maintenance. I feel like I'm calling maintenance every single day because every day I find something else breaking down in this apartment. First, it was my kitchen tub. It wouldn't drain. Maintenance came by to fix it and after they fixed it, they left my bathroom a COMPLETE mess. I was frustrated and disgusted. It took me days to clean. I've also had serious plumbing issues for what seems like weeks. My toilet overflowed one day, and maintenance came and fixed it hours later. It happened again a couple days later, and they came to fix it again. However, the second time they fixed it they also left a note on my door saying that they had fixed my toilet three times already (which was not true) and that they need us to be more careful with our apartment. If the toilet was really fixed the first time, maybe they wouldn't have to constantly come by and fix it over and over again. And again, after they fixed my toilet, they left my bathroom a complete mess. My bath mat was sitting in my tub completely soaked and it smelled bad. A few nights later, my toilet broke around 1AM and I had to call the emergency maintenance line to have it fixed. This was the one and only time someone has come by my apartment to fix something and did it in a timely manner and did not leave my bathroom looking a mess. Early yesterday morning, my toilet overflowed for the third time. I called the emergency maintenance line as it was happening. It is now 8:20 AM the next day and my bathroom is still a mess. Besides my plumbing and draining issues, I have had to call them a couple times in between those instances so that they could fix other things like mold in my bedroom, broken kitchen cabinet doors, and pieces of my stove that were coming apart, (which still has not been fixed). I am highly frustrated with the sense of urgency, or lackthereof, that the maintenance department has been showing since I moved here. Furthermore, I'm very offended that the leasing office decided to leave the note on my door about the plumbing issues as if it is my fault that they weren't able to completely fix it the first time.
I don't even know where to start, with how horrible THE BROOK IS!!!! first of all your move in price go's up every year you stay, 2nd year they start charging you for water usage, they are very bad when it comes to fixing this, they take forever like literally my stove didn't work called in they said oh I'll have someone out right away........................WELL IT WAS 2 1/2 weeks LATER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and anything they FIX!!! isn't done right you ALWAYS have to call them again to fix it. MOLD WAS ALL OVER MY BATHROOM CORNERS SHOWER WALLS CEILING EVEN IN MY CLOSET! ME AND MY KIDS had to go to the ER MANY times for breathing issues we had when we lived at the brook ALL CLOSET DOORS FELL OFF they aren't strong the never want to replace anything, one Closet door fell onto my daughter while she was sleep in her bed, cause they were SUPPOSED to be fixed and because MAINTENANCE don't know what they are doing, it wasn't FIXED my hallway light was out like a whole month they never fixed it you know how hard and scary it is going into your house at night and try to open your apartment door in the dark WTF!! and believe me I called in with my concerns they paid no mind, There main priority is the MONEY once you sign that LEASE your screwed my washing and dryer broke they took more then two months to fix it!! hallways are dirty smells like pee in most buildings, and if I start talking about the office staff, I would be here all day typing, BUT TO MAKE IT SHORT THEY AREN'T NOTHING.................................BUT RUDE NASTY AND DISRESPECTFUL PEOPLE IN THERE!!!!!!!!!
