This place is another pathetic example of how federal money is used to abuse innocent disabled people ... Typical oregon. A wheelchair bound tenant sells his perscription medication on the streets, verbally abusive, abuses his dog, they just allow it... He moves women into his home if the women dont have sex he illegally evicts them and again the management does nothing about it!
I've lived in Buckman Heights since September of 2007. When I first moved in there were a lot of things that bothered me. I didn't like the managers or the overall cleanliness of the place when I first got here but since the current manager moved in things have gotten much better. I will list the things I like and dislike about the place as it is now. The PROS: Friendly and polite staff. You are always treated like a tenant with needs and every request is carefully considered and dealt with accordingly. The maintenance crew is prompt and thorough. They normally do their thing within a few hours of your request. The building is always warm. Controlled entry so you won't see any weirdos or vagrants hanging around. Free bike storage room. The CONS: Pet friendly building. This may be great to you with a dog or cat, but to those of you with no pets, it's a nightmare. Expect to hear barking somewhere just about any time of day or night. Usually during the day people leave their yappy little dog home while they go to work and they bark 99.99% of the time. The walls are thin and noise just permeates, especially bass. Hope that your neighbors are polite and don't have surround sound. Don't ever, EVER step off the pavement around the property unless you want to scrape dog crap off your shoes. If you see a puddle somewhere, you'd better avoid that as well. On a warm day the side entrances smell like wet dog and pee. The fire alarm goes off twice a month and always between 2-5AM, evacuating the entire building. The rooms are equipped with an ear-shattering high-pitched alarm, which is awesome to wake up to, especially on Christmas Eve, 2009, 4:45AM. The laundry machines are constantly getting their rates hiked and the change machine in the laundry room works 15% of the time. The recycling/garbage room smells like a dead bum and there are usually fruit flies by the billions swarming the chutes (in the upper floors). The mail gets delivered late, usually after 4PM. So actually there is still a lot to complain about. If you are inside your own room, generally it's pretty cool.
