December 2015! My husband booked this hotel for our family's week long stay and I can tell you that I am highly disappointed. To start with, the elevator that leads to the 6th floor closes so quickly that my husband made it out but the doors shut before my daughters and I could get out even though we were right behind him. So we ended up trapped in the elevator for two extra stops before we could return to our floor and get off. I had to stand in the doorway and keep it from closing so my kids could get out. The room is old, small and feels like I'm in a cheap hotel. The living room area has two twin size beds or sofas (I guess) and the bedroom has a queen size bed. The mattress is hard and only has sheets and a SUPER THIN blanket. The bathroom has this weird half size tub like it's meant for toddlers. I don't know what he was thinking when he booked it, but I will say that the pictures on the website are deceiving. The only thing that looks remotely similar to the pictures is the lobby. The pool is extremely small and right off of the lobby! As I type this we are in the process of looking for a different hotel. I can't see staying here for a night let alone my whole vacation!
Great location, close to the beach and amenities in the surrounding area. Nice staff, good rooms.
6/1/15 We had such a wonderful experience at this hotel on our recent trip to Honolulu. Our check-in was fast and easy. We found out that the company who booked our trip had put us in a room with two double beds instead of one king (or even a queen) for my husband and I. (Thanks so much, Holiday Travel). No worries: the front desk was happy to upgrade up to a higher floor where we enjoyed scenic views of the city lights. It was still a double room, but it was clean everywhere from the bathrooms to beds to lounging area. Staff was everything you could ask for at a hotel - professional, courteous, friendly, and happy to help. We asked them for assistance from everything between show recommendations (skip the Magic of Polynesia show) to directions to the hotel's fitness room. (There's free wifi in the lobby to check out nearby attractions.) My only recommendation for the hotel (aka complaint) would be that they should keep the spa open later. The pool is small, but who wants to swim in a pool in Hawaii? Walk your lazy a$$ down to the beach. But at night time... well, it'd be nice to have a relaxing place to wind-down before heading up to your room. There's a fridge in the room for any delicious leftovers you may have (but if you're on vacation, EAT IT ALL!!!) and there's a small fitness center for mornings workouts - so that you don't feel guilty thinking about how much you ate the day before! Also, if you don't mind walking a short distance, all guests here are welcome to use the facilities at OHANA East - and their pool is much bigger. The hotel does have a sports bar (Rivals) and an IHOP, both attached. Lots of other great shopping nearby - and the beach is only a few short blocks. Our favorite nearby bar ended up being Kelley O'Neil's. The hotel's location gives you lots of options. We would definitely stay here again and were happy with every aspect of our stay (except maybe the two double beds - not because my husband and I had to sleep in separate beds, but because they could stand to be just a bit more comfortable). Thanks, Ohana Malia for making our vacation so special and memorable!
rooms had damp carpet...smelled really bad...hair on the floor...tiny unclean bathrooms...Tiniest swimming pool i have even seen. parking lot has tricky curves..beware...this feels like staying at one of those cheap motels.
Room was small however in good quality. View was beatiful at sunrise as well.
