As the longest residents of the Brooklane Apartments (8 years) we would like to add some more info to the accurate CatieOmgTheyKilledKennyYouBastard’ negative review in here. There have been some changes since she wrote it- the noise, crime and expenses got higher. Police is there at least twice a week now. If you happen to decide to ask for some help not from the police but from the management you might hear “What you want me to do?” It’s what we got last time when some noisy neighbor bothered us… As for the drug problem- there’s guy with a stinky dog who will be searching your apartment for some “bugs” monthly. If you decide to move there be ready to spend at least 2 weeks during the winter time without any heat or water due to some boiler issues. Our parrot got sick and died because of that boiler issue which I wouldn’t call a tragedy but it did piss us off. When you made it through till summer you can expect the noise level around to increase at least twice. At one night I decided to ask those who been producing really load sounds outside at 3 in the morning to get quieter. In response I got the token of Brook Lane’s reasoning: “We also pay our rent, bro…you know what I’m saying, bro.” It became more apparent to us finally that police is going to be more effective in such cases. And once in a while there’re some nights when you don’t hear any joyful shouting’s or rap music or dogs barking, or vacuum cleaner at 3 am in the morning cleaning “bugs”. But then you will be awakened by the garbage pickup truck or by the grass cutters which are scheduled by highly professional management for 7-8 am in the morning. By the way, garbage pickup truck might not bother you for about a week at all (it was happening a lot lately) but then when you will look from the window you will see a huge pile of garbage with a lot of flies around it. Some of those flies are big. I still have some pics if someone is interested. Catie OmgTheyKilledKennyYouBastard is right about the pool- most of the time it was closed. When it opens though it’s even worse- during my last appearance there was a guy smoking something in the pool. When I’ve managed to utter: “Maybe, you shouldn’t…” I got one more example of immense intelligence in response: “There’s no “No smoking” sign, bro…you know what I’m saying, bro…” Since then I was somewhat a little uncomfortable to go there. There’re a couple of good guys who work in maintenance. There was kind of comical situation with maintenance though. After we moved, they couldn’t unlock the new lock they have installed for us lately and we got a phone call from the office blaming us that we changed the lock so nobody could enter. The management also showed a great rapport in cognitive abilities with the maintenance by charging us for not returning the key on the last day of our lease, though it was Sunday and the office was closed… There’s only one thing I don’t agree with CatieOmgTheyKilledKennyYouBastard-it’s about friendly stuff. We are longest residents and we always paid in time, but a few month ago we got the note on our door from the “friendly” stuff threatening us with the eviction we if don’t pay though it was only fourth of the month and we had at least a day to pay…and when there wasn’t any heat during cold times of the winter there was no a single word of apology from the stuff. Social Programs contributed so much in that state Brook Lane Apartments finds itself now. Folks with a low income but with a high amount of babies are first in line along with some folks who encounter sincere physical or more often mental disabilities. So if you happened to be one of them you might be happy there. Thankfully we moved away about a month ago and just wanted to give some friendly advice to stay away from that place if you have any common sense at all. It was all good 8 years ago when we just moved in but started to get messed up about 2-3 years ago. BrownDeerSurvivor
if you are considering it DO NOT RENT HERE. They apartments are expensive with crumbling apartments. They keep upping costs without adding in decent repairs. The repair man is horrible and doesn't know how to fix anything. We gave up on getting things fixed. Everything is outdated and damaged. There is a large ammount of violence in the complexes. The noise levels are insane at all times of day and night. The pool really lured us into signing. Half the time it is closed. There is a big drug problem and police are there AT LEAST weekly. Honestly the worst decision I ever made. The staff is friendly---however nothing really gets done. Save yourself the stress and hassle.
