Every move the neighbors make upstairs creak the floor. Many residents ignore the designated 'pet park' area and don't pick up after their pets, rendering all grassy areas unsuitable for children. In 18 months at The Gates, we had stretches where the 'gates' themselves were inoperable, meaning they stood open for months at a time with no security in place. But what's the point of gates (even operable ones) when the fences are broken in several places throughout the property? The solution was to hire a security company to patrol the area at night. This is likely a significant reason for the $66/mo rent increase. The windows are drafty, I've had packages stolen from my front door, clothes stolen from the laundry facility (assuming multiple machines aren't on the fritz constantly, that is). When I moved into a 2BR unit, there was mildew on the shower walls still. This is just not a nice place. The price has been good, but no longer. The bright spot at this location is Jerry the maintenance man. He's always working hard (unlike several of the others I've seen, who consider it a social job) and he always fixes everything that breaks--which is good because everything in the apartments is old and breaks a lot. I'm just glad my time at TGoB is finally over.
Very pleased with management and staff. Great pool, great maintenance crew. I have been here for awhile now and its been nothing but positive. Very safe, with commercial Security patrolling at night. The most caring and friendly manager ever.
To say EXTREMELY disappointing is an understatement. I called and made an appointment to come see the apartments at 6pm. (Apparently the person I made the appointment with was at a Call Center who doesn't have much communication with the actual office) My husband and I walk up five minutes to and find a closed and locked door. However, a young blonde male (by the name of Matthew Yauslin) was sitting there busily working. We made eye contact and politely waited. (Assuming he'd get up and let us in.) AT LEAST 3-4 minutes go by while my husband and I patiently waited until I finally knocked. He was clearly annoyed and before letting me explain we had an appointment and were potential customers, he stated "we're closed." - I explained I had called and made an appointment and he rudely rejected us stating "That's not possible. We close at 6pm." ---- If you're in customer service, the LEAST you could do is apologize for any inconvenience your call center caused (gas, time, etc. -- considering I drove from a different city over and left work early!!!!) - Nothing was resolved. He told us to leave and come back the next working day. Of course, that's not going to happen now but had to say the Customer Service and lack of consideration was just sad.
Very nice complex, the staff & management are polite & friendly. The maintenance guys are cool & get the job done. Safe place to live with 24 hr security, nice pool area.
When we sign the lease about one year and half ago, we made THE WORST MISTAKE EVER!!! This is a horrible place to live, specially with children. The police had to be called almost every day due to all the drunks, crack heads, and prostitutes around the complex. My husband was robbed 2 times while living there (only stayed 6 months). After all the miserable days, weeks, and months spent there we decided we couldn't take it any longer. We spoke with the office and told them our situation. They verbally agreed to let us go (another mistake on our part since it was not written) and now after a year and half its showing on our credit as us owing them over $2000. This has honestly been the WORST experience with them. They announce themselves as polite, clean, safe, first class and it is the COMPLETE OPPOSITE. Very rude staff, not a safe place to be at, at all!!!! I have never been so disappointed. DO NOT MOVE HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
