I recently moved to Union Heights in February; at first, I was extremely skeptical as to if I was going to be happy and comfortable in my apartment. I have been here for a little over a month and could not be happier with my decision to move here. The maintenance people have been helpful, respectful, trustworthy and courteous when entering my home to make repairs. The office management seems busy most of the time, but I can definitely respect and appreciate that they are staying busy, as there is a lot to do around the complex, I'm sure. My neighbors are generally quiet and I haven't had any complaints about them yet, however, it is obvious that the residents mostly consist of young individuals. My parking area always has plenty of open spaces and is generally clean. Although, if it is dirty, it is not on account of the management or condition of the residence - it is the tenants' responsibility to respect their neighbors and clean up after themselves, but, it is obvious that there is someone on property who cleans up public areas and commons, probably about weekly. The cons that I have experienced, though, is the dog poop - Again, the responsibility of the tenants to respect their neighbors and clean after themselves... I have a large dog, and I step in crap at least once a week while trying to take her out to potty.... which is certainly unfavorable, considering that I am constantly cleaning up after mine AND others' pets. I realize that no one likes picking up poo, but it's definitely a problem. Management has sent out flyers warning of consequences of this... It is also a little hard to reach the offices by phone, but they usually call back in a reasonable amount of time. Overall, it has been a great experience so far. I would recommend this property.
I lived here with both management's in control. I miss the old people. They are now over priced. I used to pay $750 for a 2.2 now I pay $1000 for a 2.1. I called two months ago and told them I can't keep my kids room warm. The window has a breeze coming through I tried to put plastic up on it, but the breeze is so strong it pulls it down. And I am still waiting to see someone. The old maintenance guys were friendly. The dog poop is ridiculous outside our units. On a positive note they are remodeling. They are looking nice. If they have the model units done they should post some pictures I would love to see what they are going to look like.
We have been at Union Heights for a little over a year now. I see lots of people here claiming things were much better under Holland's management -- honestly, for us that was not the case. Both now and then we have experienced issues. Most recently, we have not been very impressed with communication by management (I.e. notices left on our door saying someone would be entering our unit to check/repair something and no one ever showing, or sometimes people showing up unannounced). We have had issues with noisy neighbors, and the dog poop/barking is annoying, but I do know that can be a reality of apartment life. Yes, there are things we don't like here, but no apartment complex is perfect and we have come to really enjoy our little apartment, the easy access to Academy and other major roads, and the cute neighborhoods in back of our apartment. I do think G.B. really is making an effort to improve the apartments overall, which we do appreciate. Definitely not a bad place to live!
Things have improved a lot here now that Jennifer no longer works in the office. They hired a new office assistant named Andrea who is super sweet and easy to talk to. The owners Griffis Blessing has made a lot of improvements to the property and we are super psyched about the hot tub being open!!! Renewed my lease for the third year because of the improvements in office staff.
My husband and I have lived here for 4 years and have previously loved it. Since the new owners took over though we have not at all enjoyed it. The maintenance and new staff are not friendly and inviting at all like the old crew. The old staff used to wave and smile at us every time we passed them and would stop to talk to us. We loved how friendly they all were. Within the last month here though my car has been keyed twice when I've never had any problems in my previous 4 years here, so I don't know what has happened to security at night either. Needless to say I can not wait to move next month. I am very disappointed and upset that our stay has ended this way after all of these years.
