I would suggest looking at the many other options the Plaza has to offer, even if you would need to spend a little more money it would be worth it. The grounds are beautiful yes and that is was brought myself to want to live here, luckily it didn't happen. The staff was not helpful in the application process and had know clue what was going on, there were some issues that should have been resolved and were not. We then went with our second option which should have been our first. Union Hill Apartments are by far 100% better. The staff is beyond impeccable, the grounds beautiful and our building was built in 2011. We are so happy with Union Hill and I couldn't say the same for Fountain View with what little experience I had with them it was a joke.
I am super disappointed in this place. First off -- When we looked at the model apartments everything looked clean and the paint and crown molding seemed well put together. Nope. The staff made excuses after excuses to delay showing us the unit we had put a deposit on until literally the move in date. I remember after bugging the staff to do a walk through we finally scheduled a time to do so -- the unit they showed us seemed like they hired an elementary school to slap on the paint, granite counter tops, and cheap floor. The granite counter tops were new -- How do we know this? The barcode stickers that are impossible to scrub off were left on every single granite piece.. One of the toilets should've been replaced as it had embarrassing brown stains in the bowl and even bleach could not get out. The power outlets were constantly going out in the bathroom as did the lights. The island cabinet door in the kitchen just fell off one day.....I can't tell you how many times I had to make a maintenance repair --- I will say that maintenance did fix the problem same day most of the time. Most recently they've been putting notices on our door every other day for a sprinkler project. We own a couple retail shops and have a really tight schedule and need all the sleep we can get.... Nope not here. They will BANG on your door at 8 am... leave dust all over your things..move things around. They took a mirror down and never put it back up instead we now have some nice abstract holes to look at the second we step through the door -- I am the type of person that likes coming home to a nice comfortable place.... Nope .. not here. In fact this whole ordeal has me unrelaxed and stressed out -- I have orange pipes running along the top of my walls (they took the crown molding out and replaced them with BRIGHT ORANGE SPRINKLER PIPERS) holes literally on every wall -- random white drywall splotches -- DEFINITELY NOT WHAT I SIGNED UP FOR -- ESPECIALLY FOR THE AMOUNT OF RENT I AM PAYING TO LIVE IN LUXURY APARTMENTS! We asked the manager Jan to inspect our place -- surely, she would do something because the condition of the place was unacceptable. Instead -- she asks us if we put the holes in the walls and was really nonchalant about the whole ordeal. Nothing was offered to make our stay more pleasant --- her attitude was pretty much --- just deal with it. We have no crown molding they took it down -- we don't have even painted walls -- we do have a constant headache and just mounds of dust on our clothes! WE NEVER AGREED on coming home to this -- I love how management's response to negative review is "We have an open door policy" Even if you discuss your issue nothing s resolved.. Save your money...This place is trash and is only a convenient location.... Other than that the hallway smells -- the cement stairs in the garage are literally falling apart -- who knows if you can even trust the garage structure... the place is a mess. I'll be posting photos of the construction in my yelp review. Also forgot to mention -- how their security is a joke -- about 2 weeks ago we're leaving for work about 10am and our motorcycle is lying on the ground 2 parking spots over ...it was clear somebody was trying to take off with it.... A security guard was walking around on our level but walked right past it -- the office never notified us --- security never even noticed...... enough said.
They are constantly under construction. I thought because other people mentioned construction months and years ago there wouldn't be a lot to fix currently. Nope. I currently have multiple holes in my wall. The place looks nothing like what it did when I rented it, and instead of fixing it all in one day. They attempt to fix the whole building over three to five days. So, someone will be in my apartment for 3-5 days from 8 a.m.- 5 p.m. (they will bang on your door at 8 a.m.) I don't have normal working hours! They moved my stuff (did not move it back). There is dust everywhere! This is only phase 1. So, they will be back again, and even when construction is not in your apartment. They will wake you up from the noise outside everyday at around 7 a.m. They also get to park directly on the main street, which makes it hard to maneuver around them. There presence is constantly felt. One of the most irritating things is I feel like someone is constantly in my apartment (this week construction, last week it was maintenance, bug control, etc)
My girlfriend and I have lived at Fountain View for nearly a year now, and couldn't be happier with our experience. As Kansas City newcomers and a young couple on a budget, we were very concerned about finding a clean, decent, and safe place to live on such short notice. By the time we toured Fountain View, we had actually already looked at a dozen places and put a deposit down on a downtown loft. When we saw Fountain View, we immediately called to cancel the loft and signed a lease at FVOP. They were extremely flexible in helping us schedule our movers, get the keys, and were friendly throughout the whole process. Fountain View is a little more expensive than other apartments in the area, but for a very good reason. The gated community and constant security provide an extreme sense of security around the clock. The pool and grill area are reminiscent of a 5-Star Resort, and the fitness center- while a little small-is a pleasant, naturally lit room with plenty of exercise machines to choose from. Our apartment is very clean and comfortable, and we have great neighbors. Every maintenance issue we've experienced has been quickly addressed and resolved. Washer/Dryer are located in the apartments opposed to most places that have them in a dingy, shared basement. We have covered, safe parking spots and we enjoy taking walks through the Plaza, local parks, and even to nearby the Westport area. Location really doesn't get much better. Simply put, I would highly recommend this apartment community to anyone looking for a comfortable, secure place to live in the city. Don't let the negative reviews fool you- in the last year, we and all the residents we know have had very positive experiences at Fountain View.
I'm really shocked by some of the negative reviews on here. My husband and I have lived at this property for about four months now and I’ve had no problems at all. The office staff is very friendly and courteous. When I have had to log an issue, I use the resident portal and maintenance always responds in a very timely manner. The fitness center is great and open to residents 24 hours a day, and I have heard that they’re planning to start some upgrades soon. The residents that I have spoken with are very friendly and polite. Everyone seems to mind their own business, which is always a nice attribute when sharing walls. They’re installing a new system for parcel lockers to make packages available for pickup 24 hours a day, which, as an Amazon addict, I’m very excited about. Some people complain that there is a charge if you leave a package for more than three days, but I’m sorry, if you’re old enough to rent an apartment, you’re old enough to either put your locker on vacation mode or deal with it, be an adult. Very happy to be here. No complaints.
