These are the worst apartments I have ever lived in. Not only do you have to pay $25 for a laundry card( that comes with $0 dollars on it) you also have to pay $25 to use the pool. Also there washing machines breaks often, and so does the machine that you have to use to put money on the cards. Not too mention this summer the city put out a boil water notice and my friend and his 18 month old son got hand foot mouth from it. The apartments did not put out a notice until after the ban had been lifted. The only reason I would give this place anything close to one star reviews are the maintenance guys. Avoid this place if you can if you can't live in a cardboard box. When I spoke with the manager she was very rude about the entire situation.
1. Property Manager is very very rude, if you talk politely you will never be heard. 2. No actions on several basic complaints - proper & timely removal of snow from walk-ways, parking lots etc. | Non-residents and unauthorized parking in the resident parking lot, no checks at all. Residents are being told, we have a position open etc. etc. 3. Random and stupid policies, non-responsive, painful management. They change policies impacting the residents without any prior notice/information to the residents. 4. They will show that rents are cheap but they are not, their heating system is 40 yrs old and consumes enormous amount of electricity which means 150-200 of electricity bills, hence you end up spending more than what you will spend in a premium location. 5. Some shame-less residents stay in the wooden houses and they run and gym inside the houses, so ground floor and 1st floor and extremely noisy and there is no action whatsoever by the local management. Those planning to move in here in summer can contact me and I have several pictures and videos of their mess and a long email chain about how their management works. That will surely help you make a better decision.
My experience at these apartments are extremely horrible ! the rent is WAY to expensive for what they are advertising , the property is not kept clean there is dog poop EVERYWHERE good luck trying not to step in it. also during the winter one of their snow plowing trucks damaged my car and they claimed not be responsible for it... you also have to pay 25$ for a laundry card and 25$ for a fitness key and pool key, the fitness room is a sad excuse , nothing works at all in there all of their equipment is broken and since i was there never fixed.... for being about 45 mins from the city these apartments cost way to much .. I wouldn't recommend anyone not even my worst enemy to live here. The only great thing about these apartments is that I don't live there anymore.
BEWARE!!! LAZY & IGNORANT STAFF. From: -Anonymous- Date posted: 3/11/2010 Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2010 This was a email sent to the staff at the Lakes at Fountain Square on Feb 25, 2010. I STILL have YET to receive a REPLY from them. After 4 years of living here my husband & I are moving out because we can no longer take it!!! Where do I begin' Ever since Westdale became management here at the Lakes the quality of living here has severly detoriated. My husband and I both feel that things have changed drastically. We have hit a tipping point. After 4 years of being lease holders it saddens us to have the desire to leave the community. Parking has been a huge issue, which has been discussed with Avani. But why should I continue to call and leave voicemails about not being able to park in the lot behind my building' Or why should I continue to call and let you know that over half of the cars parked in our lot have been neglected or lacking resident stickers' Wouldn't that be the responsibility of the management or maintainance staff' Last week 5 out of 7 days I had to park in far off lots. Is this the kind of living that Westdale wants to provide for their long term tenants' My husband and I have also called in our dishwasher several times over the last 2 years. We have to do all of our dishes by hand because our dishwasher is rendered useless. Maintainance told us the last time that they were here to look at it: "You have to use jet dry" and literally left the apartment without even attempting to repair the dishwasher. So, our dishwasher still sits and is useless. My husband and I have given up on calling that in because we know we will be disregarded or dismissed. Why bother! During the winter months I have fallen many times in the parking lot. The problem is the walkway between our building, where ice builds up and becomes so thick and slick that it is impossible to keep your balance. The neglect and lack of removal of ice is putting Westdale management in a position of liability. I am sure that if the maintainance staff is making their rounds they would have noticed this hazard. Tuesday night we recieved a letter tacked on our door about being in violation of the lease agreement about a door mat. Really' A door mat' My husband and I went over the terms of our lease agreement that was signed about a year ago and cannot find anything about door mats in the document. But, apparently door mats are more of a hazard than the ice in the parking lot. A door mats purpose is to help remove soil on shoes so that the carpets are kept clean in the apartment. But, suit yourselves, door mats are a huge hazard in comparison to the ice slicks in the parking lot and walkways. How about addressing our neighbors who leave mounds of smelly shoes in the hallway and on the stairs' So while checking out a neighboring apartment complex I walked into their gym. WOW, amazing. Each workout machine actually worked! Are you aware that almost all of the machines in our "gym" don't work or have been vandalized' My husband was so excited to live here because we had a gym, but now comes up out of pocket for a gym memebership because none of the machines are in working order. I wouldn't reccomend stating that the Lakes has a gym facility on the website or Craigslist when clearly, nothing in the gym works or functions properly. It is false advertisment, which I believe in many states is a crime. So, if you have any intention of keeping us as residents our expectation is that you don't badger and harass over a door mat and truely address long term residents concerns as mentioned above. Let's see what happens. We are done! And are moving on due to the negligence & disregard from property management. I have a lawyer!
The apartments are good overall, the rent is low too but the electricity bill drives you monthly expenses well over what you had anticipated. The biggest drawback is that heating and cooking are all based on electricity. So you get a minimum of $90 in electricity bill in summer and about $200 in winter. If you are ok with that bill then you will not have any other problems with this place.
