Hello People, This is my first online review, and I feel it is necessary. I've lived in this community for 3 years going on 4. The current staff are all nice but trust me there were a couple that I would hate to talk to about issues in my Apt. Many of the reviews are about the annual rent increases, let me tell you it is true. During the time i've lived in Tarnhill I have helped them fill up two other one bedroom apartments with people that are reliable and that take care of the building, still I do not feel appreciated as they keep increasing my rent every single year. I have witnessed that the quality of life in these apartment buildings has decrease because of the new people moving in. Believe me, I love to meet new people but my point is, people like myself take care of the apartment and still get huge increases every year versus new people are probably getting a cheaper rate and still do not take care of the property. If you are looking in to moving to Tarnhill make sure you are aware that the rent you pay the first year will probably increase by 100-120 the second year... I hate to move but I also hate to feel unappreciated, I recently signed my new lease (Of course, with an increase) but i know it will be my last one. Like I said my goal is not to stop you from moving in as i would love to meet you, but be aware that they get you with a nice monthly rate for the first year.... however, you need to be ready and not surprised when you see the renewal notice. Thank you and Good luck. -Edwin D.
The one good point is that the office staff is nice. I can hear everything my upstairs neighbors are doing. They are not loud people - the building is just that poorly insulated. The hallways reek of cigarette smoke - most likely this is due to the poor insulation as well. I had to completely re clean the place when I moved in. The vertical blinds were streaked with stains and I removed a yellow film from the bathroom walls and cabinets. Painting was done but baseboards and door frames were neglected and I had to scrub the previous tenant's stains off of them. The fan on the stove was full of hair and the cabinets were not painted and also stained (although I was promised the apt was newly painted). The laundry card system stole my money and I had to wait days to get it refunded. The reason for finally writing this review??? I just went into my shower after a trip to the gym. The water was ice cold. I called the office and they assured me they had "been getting calls about this all day". They told me they had someone coming to look at it but they couldn't give me any estimate of when it would be fixed. Okay - it's 2pm. Really??!! You have had all day but you can't tell me when I can expect to have a hot shower??? FAIL. As soon as my lease is up I am done with this stinky, ugly, dirty, loud, cold apartment complex.
This place is so noisy. Car alarms going off all the time and sometimes for 30 min. straight in the garage below, echoing in my apartment. Management is poor, they don't communicate or ever return phone calls. The shower often goes from hot to cold back to steaming hot. You can hear your neighbors on the side and up above. For the amount of money you pay this place isn't worth it. Oh and they are raising the rent prices and the water bill is split up within the building so even if you're on vacation you have a water bill to pay.
I've read many bad reviews about this place. But I'm glad I took a chance and moved here anyway. Staff here are friendly and maintenance is quick to respond. I like my building and my unique layout of my unit. Most issues people have here you'd have at any place. There's really only one problem I have and that's the smelly garage. Plumbing leaks or something more often than not and its just gross, but a smelly garage is better than no garage right? I'm planning on staying here until I buy a house. Also... After a year, Rent was only increased by $30/ month. Not bad if you ask me! Paying for water isn't awesome, but more and more places make you pay for more utilities nowadays. Now we have to pay for trash as well which kinda sucks, but its not that much. I'm comfortable here, and that's what matters!
Before you make decision about rent this apartment you should know that you must pay for the water and you must pay for the renter insurance-this at least another &50 or more adding to your rent I find out this at the last moment when was signing my lease-from my expirience the this company don't care about resident, don't trust them-what you can expect from them-it the very High increase in rental at renewal-$125 for me and basicly for one -bedroom apartment the total will be around $900 a month at Tarnhill you can find nice luxury apartment much better than this one good luck to everyone
