The office people are great, always there when you need help!! The maintenance guys are just as awesome, whenever I have a question about something they try n help as much as possible!! But my favorite is DENISE! She's great, super friendly and always there to listen and answer questions as well!!
My husband and I moved down from northern WI on short notice for his new job. We called around and Beacon was the only apartments offered short term leases so we figured we'd give it a go. We worked with Diana the whole time and she has consistently gone out of her way to help us every step of the way!! Everyone has been so friendly to us. We make a call and they are there to fix whatever needs it. There is so much green area and it is incredibly quiet. In our experience, Beacon Hill has been nothing but great. Beacon gave us a great first impression of Rockford--would recommend this to anyone!
I've lived there a few times. love it. nice apartments. well maintained. good management. great rental rates. storage right across the street. the people who live there have no respect for anyone however. opening doors into your car. trying to break in your car or apartment. loud rude dirty neighbors if you are unlucky enough to have them. but aside from the class of people who live there it is a great place.
Horrible management. My utilities were transferred incorrectly upon moving in. My lease was wrong. Internet is overpriced, and that bill was also incorrect thanks to the staff. Would never recommend that anyone would move into this complex. The staff themselves were very friendly and willing to help fix the mistakes, but every bill that I paid for the first month I was living there turned out to be wrong in one way or another. As for the apartments themselves, they are very nice. It was clean and fairly well maintained when I moved in. Any problems were taken care of when I asked. If it weren't for the sour taste left in my mouth after dealing with the multiple bill errors, I would have given it a much higher rating.
Beacon Hill is a good place to live, I have lived in 2 different units during my time there. I feel that many of the bad reviews written are related to unreasonable expectations or were likely in a bad unit. The units in the forward half are all very nice, locked corridors, with clean laundry facilities located in your corridor. The back half however, yes, gets a little less savory. No locked corridors, and the facilities are often left dirty. I get the feeling that families get priority toward the front, and the larger more expensive apartments are located there. The back half seems to be newer, less well maintained, cheaper, thinner walls, and smaller- it would seem this is where students and lower income demographics come in to play. As with anywhere you live, you can expect certain elements to rear their head when the price drops, and quality of apartments drop, as well as rowdier individuals living their. All that being said, the comment about the internet couldn't be more wrong (maybe the individual lived there during a particularly spotty time period) but I have always been thoroughly satisfied with their internet, only had 1 outage once, which was over by the time I got back from using the down time to go buy groceries. The staff is friendly and tries to help- anyone who has written otherwise were probably, themselves, being unreasonable. A polite demeanor will always be met in kind from their staff, trust me on this. The comments about the maintenance guys seem to be from pretty judgmental people. Honestly, they're freaking MAINTENANCE, of course they are wearing cheap dirty clothes, they don't do the kind of work you wear a SUIT to. They are polite if you don't look down your nose at them, they are just doing their JOB. However, yes I have had them come right in before, which is unsettling to say the least, but I imagine if you put a request to knock on your door, they would oblige. The place is pet friendly, and the neighbors in the front half were extremely warm. Again, the back half was filled with slightly ruder individuals (likely the ones who wrote bad posts) In either case, people kept to themselves and would generally return a hello. Despite some individuals I met while working in Rockford saying the area is dangerous, I only ever saw the cops show up once in Beacon Hill, and once in Great Oaks, but never felt in danger in either case. All in all, there are by far worse places to live, especially in Rockford. If you move into the back half, where it's cheaper, etc, well....you are getting what you payed for. If you can swing an apartment in the front half, you will wonder why you were ever even concerned- great place to live. P.S. a word of advice, take their "pay rent on the 1st of the month" policy SERIOUSLY, every time I've been in the office during the first week of a month, for whatever reason I had to stop in, there was always delinquent tenants in there frustrated with being assigned a late fee. *Pay on time* (which you can do in your own freaking apartment for crying out loud- they have a quick and simple online payment option) and you will never have to deal with this.
