This will probably be one of the nicest places I have ever lived, huge windows, high ceilings, lots of interior space and pretty good amenities. But what really kills this place is the noise. And then that noise makes you sour about all the things you don't like about the apartment and makes you realize how loud the trains are. The trains can be a bother, but you can really get pushed over the edge if you have noisy neighbors. I had a huge issue with one of my neighbors really making too much noise getting ready for the day, slamming doors, slamming gates, yelling, stomping around at about 5am-6am every day of the week including weekends. I worked late into the night and from home so this was a huge issue, and weekends are sacred. I thought I would never hear our neighbors because I have some friends that live here and love it, but I feel they got lucky. It was two months of hard core noise before the management was able to make any significant change, like it was awful on top of a noisy kid that constantly runs around during the day. The contracts specifically notes any noise heard outside of the apartments is excessive. It was a dream to get updates and actually notice change and get some sleep. It was more frustrating that the noise during the day never changed that the kid is still one to run, jump, scream, bang on the wall and all that. The assistant manager visited my apartment at one of told me that this was considered within the bounds of apartment living even though she agreed with me that she could see how the noise would be overwhelming and offered me a new apartment almost four months into living here. They are really nice, but it is crushing to think about all that money it cost just to move, setup services, setup my home and hear that they won't deal with the noise anymore but offer me a new place to live if I pay new fees. I would have appreciated the offer if the AC unit hadn't exploded causing additional losses and leaving the apartment a disaster for two weeks (All because a part was missing from the initial installation, so it was a preventable loss, and it had happened to other tenants who where missing the part also). I had already spent so much money just getting the apartment to be livable that I couldn't afford to make the move to a new apartment as a new deposit and fees where required. And not everyone has friends available at all hours to make moves every few months. So as much as I want to appreciate the efforts of the management to try to make things better, things aren't great hear for me, and I couldn't recommend anyone live hear. I still can't figure out why they would charge me more money for my neighbors who are noisy...not a great value even though the apartments are so nice...grrrr.
Not a good place to live. The main lady in the office has a huge attitude problem! She does not care about cars being broken into or insufficient lighting on the grounds. Definitely not pet friendly- although they will tell you that they are! If you have an animal that pees even once on the carpet, be prepared to pay $1,000 to replace to entire carpet(and that's just in a 1 bdrm apt.). It's also REALLY loud because the passing trains blow their horns in front of the apts at all hours of the day! And don't keep anything on your patio. It will get ruined because they pressure wash the outside of the buildings without notice!!
Luxury living at a moderate price. I love the proximity to nature and the staff treat me like its the 4 Seasons!
Lucky for the ones who have already left. If you still live here, get the hell out when you can. Great & friendly maintenance staff but the office staff sucks big balls. No one listens to any of my issues / concerns. Cars belonging to non-residents litter the complex. It looks like a garage in downtown LA. Its like living in the SFV, that is why I came to Simi, to get away from that s**t. Tenants who have left complain of BS "damage" to apartments. Noise level sucks, not talking about the trains either. STAY AWAY, go to Archstone instead!! Good luck getting your deposit back. Getting out of this rat hole soon & I cannot wait.
OK. The maintance staff are really nice and they are ever sooo helpful! whatever i need fixed or moved there were always around to help! The office staff on the other hand.. i dont know.. one of the main mgrs has an attitude sometimes and i feel like they are always trying to sneak something past you. When i first was moving in.. she had only explained certain things.. then all of the sudden they were like, Oh you need 2,000 for god knows what.. i thought i told you the mgr says to me! ah.. omg! They get you to fall in love then they trick you every chance they get! I hated that first of all. Thhhhhhhhhen! you cannot bring any bottles what so ever-no even water into the pool area! um are you F'n kidding me! Its simi valley people.. and i am pretty sure thats illegal! The walls in the apts are not even paper thin.. i mean they are soooooo thin i could hear everything, i mean EVERYTHING from all sides of my apt. I was on the second floor and i had people all around me and it was horrible!!!!! REALLY LOUD. I could even hear some people that werent touching my apt it is that thin! Speaking of.. they had a bunch of not so polite, respectful people moving in and they were really rude and trashy. Drug dealers moved in and i would see people coming from all over the place coming and buying. Loud music and their front patio looked like storage! So rude. So, I gave them 3 stars because i really loved the apt inside. it was so cute and nice and had all what i needed. The views were sooo pretty and i loved the train. It wasnt loud for me=) I really would of stayed longer if it wasnt for ghetto people and the price increase! which by the way.. i was told the price would not change.. hmm yea. What they heck.. how do some of those people afford to live there!? dealing is the way i guess! ha
