BEWARE!!! Got a call at 2 PM Saturday saying my "non-smoking" room was ready. Arrived at 4am to check in and was told my room had been given away. Then they had me stand in the lobby for over an hour waiting for them to clean a room. While I waited, the person at the front desk complained about having to work off the clock, and again confirmed that I wanted a non-smoking room. A little after 5pm they finally checked me in, but forgot to give me internet access. I tried calling the front desk, but got an emergency line person who was rude and said there was nothing they would do until the office opened on Monday. The room smelled horrible of smoke, the carpet had sticky stains, and the bath tub had hair in it. The next day, the power went out and I was told there was no ETA of when it would be back on, so I checked out. The hotel refuses to even give me a partial refund.
I chose the Value Place because of the location and kitchen ammenities. The room was very basic but it was also very clean. The room, however, did not have a flat-screen TV like the website showed. I felt that was somewhat false advertising. I was unable to plug my computer into it. The other reviewers also forgot to mention that there are a set of train tracks less than a quarter of a mile away; close enough that the room vibrates as trains pass. The trains blow their horns at all hours of the night, which can make it very hard to get a full night's sleep. The staff was nice enough, but not very helpful. I noticed a very strong odor of cigarette smoke the first couple of nights and I assumed it was coming from outside. I then realized that the smell was coming from my pillows and sheets. I asked for replacements but they smelled worse than the orignals, and strong enough to make me leave them outside the room. When she returned to pick them up, the manager did not offer me a solution. She just shrugged her shoulders and walked away. I did a little detective work and noticed that one of the smoking areas is directly outside the hotel's linen area and there's an AC unit pulling the smoky air into it. I also feel like their 24 hour checkout notice policy is a bit of a scam. Say you stay for a week and plan to checkout on a Tuesday. You must notify the management by 11 AM on Monday or you'll be charged a minimum of $45.00 even though you've already paid for a week in advance. So if you forget to talk to them on Monday, or need to stay a couple of extra days and check out at the last minute, you'll probably have to pay an extra $45.00 or more. This doesn't work out very well for a business traveller with constantly changing plans. From the website, it really did seem too good to be true but the ratings were positive and it appeared to be a newer hotel. I would only recommend the Value Place to someone who is in desperate need of immediate, affordable housing.
I don't know why people say they receptionists are polite. They are not. I called in with a basic question and was greeted with rudeness. The receptionist was blunt and could not get off the phone fast enough. I called back and asked to speak to the manager. This time, the lady who answered seemed nice, but the manager was just as rude. I wanted to move back to the southern states because I missed southern hospitality. Obviously, I won't find it here.
Very nice place clean , quite. Staff gets 4 star rating very helpful an POLITE.
Looks great from the out side. But its not worth it staying here. This PLACE. Has BED BUGS.... room smell bad. And is crappy looking it tells us that we would feel like hoome. And there's noting homeie about it..there's not even a coffee maker in the room... MOTEL 6 is better then this.... I DIDN'T SEE NOTHING VALUE ABOUT THIS. I would not recommend this to nobody. STAY AWAY FROM VALUE PLACE.........
