It sucks that you can't leave anything less than one star; this place has roaches, it's always had roaches, and there's no getting rid of them. Last year, the pool closed irregularly, and was frequently closed because of chemicals. The laundry facilities do not work, one dryer doesn't dry, and one washer floods the basement. We're moving soon, finally, thank god. A few months ago, two young men were killed, and if you like to hear the sound of gunshots, leave your windows open in the evening. Like the other review said, the gas station up the way is terrible, one night when we were up there, a drunk guy exposed himself to my girlfriend. The model apartment looks nothing like the apartment you'll move into; when we moved in, there were roaches, damage to the carpets, walls, and bathroom fixtures. The ONLY thing I can say for this place, is that the new manager, Nicole, is very understanding, and will work with you when she can. The problem is not the office, it's the people who own the place; they don't seem to want to put in any money for repairs, but are more than happy to take yours. The rent is waaaaaaay disproportionate to what you're getting. Poor accommodation, in a high crime area, and amenities that malfunction constantly.
Doesn't even deserve the one star rating but it was my only option! First, we lived on the third floor and they weren't even done with the repairs when we moved in, nor did they get repaired. Our sliding door wasn't on the track and was literally laying against our loveseat...Thank goodness the couch caught it and not a person. It took three weeks for them to fix. Manager had bed bugs!! I have seen five different managers in the two and a half years I have been here and countless maintenance workers who are rude, don't know what the hell they are doing and lazy. They finally got decent manager but maintence is still horrendous! We moved into a two bedroom remodeled apartment but still needed some repairs which they did same day always! I thought awesome, but it was short lived. Are air conditioner has not worked since we moved in Nov and we just opened windows since my wife is terminally ill and is always hot!!! They assured us we'd be first for repairs. They finally came after my wife complained NONSTOP and said nothing is wrong. They're lying! First, they never came in and they said it was only a little low on Freon....not true there is no air coming out and they tiny bit that is is hot!! They won't come fix it. If you want to get shot or your kid to find a gun cuz they forgot to lock the vacant apartments or to inhale pot smoke 24/7, listen to your neighbors beat each other up then you have found your new home!! And pest control is supposed to come twice a month, I've seen them three times in almost three years so make sure to leave room for critters.
When we first moved in to Shadow Creek apartments I thought the building was decent for the amount of rent, although our apartment came with a few things in need of maintenance like the sliding door, the lock on the front door, some of the drawers, and a few other minor things. I was WRONG!! Since then we have reported something broken and gone months without maintenance. My husband has had his car stolen twice. He has had his tags stolen twice. Our laundry has been taken. The office SIGNED for a package (containing jewelry as my anniversary gift) and then lost it. As the professional adults they are they told us tough luck and that they would not be responsible for losing our package. The most aggravating thing and the one that has cost us the most money is that they had my husbands car towed. Policy is that vehicles without tags are given two warnings and then towed. My husband found ONE warning on his car March 31 in the morning and spoke to them that day. He explained his tags were stolen and he had a few days waiting on paperwork from Jefferson City to get new ones. The head manager assured him she would contact the tow company since the tags were on their way, but within 24 hours of receiving his single warning his car was gone. The office could not even tell us the tow company they used, and in fact gave us the address of a random tow lot (thinking they were at least capable enough to give out addresses we arrived only to be told that was not where his car was). Therefore it was in there all weekend, almost costing my husband his job, and forcing me to cover his rides (we have vastly different schedules). OK life's not fair and we accept that, but when he went to get the location of his car Monday not only were the managers unapologetic about failing to do the simplest parts of their jobs, they outright screamed and cussed at him (mind you these people applied for this job and are paid to be there). He STILL did not get the correct tow lot from them. All in all the office has cost us several hundred dollars and quite a few hours by being unorganized, forgetful, and unprofessional. They have been rude, have lied, and have repeatedly failed at what should be a relatively easy occupation.
I think a lot of these reviews are fake. When we moved in, it was owned by a different company, infested with German cockroaches (the leasing agent LIED to my face, saying she saw no roaches... they were trapped inside the oven display), it's loud, the neighborhood sucks, --the corner store up the road has someone there 24/7 trying to either get a ride, sell you drugs, or begging for money. Now it's owned by a different company, one of the leasing agents has GREEN hair, they lost a money order for rent, and they're completely incompetent. We are not renewing our lease, in fact, we can't wait to get the hell out of here. Advise anyone even considering moving in here, to stay away, it's horrible, and you can do better.
I like the amount of space and closets. As in any apartment, there are pros and cons. Staying for ten years speaks for itself.
