These apartments are great. I have lived here a year in a single bedroom and love it. My gf and I are moving into a two bedroom this weekend. The management is great, neighbors have been neighbors as expected. The staff keeps all areas clean, etc. After living in 3 other apartment complexes in my life I can say this is by far the best. I will be graduating from UD this spring and hope to find a job so I can stay here with my gf.
I have lived here for 5 months, already, and I absolutely love living at Dovetree! This is a huge step-up from where I used to live, and I lived there 9yrs. For one, the maintenance team is generally very responsive & thorough. Everyone I have interacted with, with the exception of the After Hours Club House Monitor has been super-friendly, helpful & accommodating. (The Club House Monitor lied about the availability of the Club House-- which The Apartment Managers rectified, as soon as I brought it up to them. They said it was unacceptable, apologized & took care of it, which was awesome. I was not the only person she had basically kicked out of the Club House, because she wanted it all to herself.) ' Other than that one incident, it's been awesome. They send out a complex Newsletter every month, which I enjoy. They keep the grounds very clean. It's pretty quiet. Most my appliances are brand new & upgraded, They sponsored a "residents only" pool party during the summer, and have been so welcoming throughout all my interactions. I even got a note from one of the management agents, complimenting me on how attractive my balcony was. When I moved to Dovetree, I started feeling better about life, in general-- and I didn't realize how much the nuisances of my last apartment was causing me. Before I came to Dovetree, I visited about 17 different places, and settled on Dovetree, because it was basically the only place in my price range that had everything I wanted, along with being comparable to what was shown online & in pictures. I can still say, I think I made the best choice, as far as price, space & comfort goes!
This complex is generally very nice, well kept. BUT the company that owns this place is so cheap that when the refridgerators go into defrost and the ice melts. It goes to the bottom shelf of the fridge, which is the top part of the drawers. There is water every where. If I don't check it often enough the water runs out. The maintenance guy has to come over whenever this happens - TO EVERYONE IN THE COMPLEX - and take the freezer section apart, chip out the ice, unclog the pipe and then put it back together again. Mean while, my frozen foods are on the counter or in the sink, the door is open until he is done. He has informed me that he has to do this to every apt here. This is a very large complex. What a cheap place. At the end of my year lease I will be gone.
I read the other reviews and there is truth in the positive and negative remarks. First, on the positive note. The management is friendly, responsive, and caring. They are basically nice folks in the management office. The comment about the health club membership is true and some people really like it. There is a visible police presence with drive through by the Moraine police. The crime issue is not always responsibility of the management. If there was a break-in ( i cannot confirm nor deny the other reviewer's experience), it must be noted the crime in Moraine is on the rise due to depressed economic conditions. While one poster described the management as unresponsive to complaints, I have had mixed experiences; more good than bad. I had a noise complaint that did not repeat itself. The complaints about dog poo are legitimate. It is a problem and the management has tried to curb the problem but walking around the apartment complex is the best evidence that management has been unsuccessful. The complex is undergoing some remodeling of the doors. It would seem to be a good thing but the workmen hire are very rude and threatening to residents. When they arrive on the wrong day, they try to force their way into the apartment with threats. On the day they are supposed to arrive, the knock and open the door immediately. There is no respect for your privacy. Management doesn't give sufficient advance notice that workmen will enter the apartment. You can arrive home at 6pm and find a note on your door that workers will be in your apartment the next morning. If you have visitor coming or need to take care of work at home, forget it. Your enjoyment of your apartment is going to be compromised. So, all in all, it's not the worst place in the world, it could be a lot better, some things are unavoidable but overall, I have serious doubts that I would renew my lease for another year. I hope this review is fair and balanced.
