We have been living here for a few months now and we are very pleased with our experience so far. We had a couple of maintenance issues when we first moved in, but the staff helped us out and quickly resolved our problems. This is definitely, a major step up from our previous apartment.
I've been a resident at Indian Oaks since July and I must say my experience here has been wonderful. The complex is extremely clean. The yard work is always kept up. The staff is very friendly. All the neighbors are nice and quiet. Maintenance is quick. The first week we moved in our water heater wasn't working properly, so we called maintenance and they replaced it with a new one 2 days later. Another great advantage of living here is the neighborhood is very safe. Every store you can think of is minutes away. You can walk to Vons, Cochran St. has Walmart, Target, Trader Joe's, Ross, CVS, Bed Bath and Beyond, etc. and there's a wide variety of restaurants in the immediate area.
I have been living here for twelve years now and though I have seen changes through this time, I have to say the management has been very good in responding to any of my requests. Overall my experience living here has been positive.
Instead of writing a typical review, below I've pasted the comments which I provided to Aimco, the apartment management company for Indian Oaks Apartments, in addition to adding some **notes**.:__ Your corporate, out-of-area employees who set the pricing are seriously out of touch with what a tenant can get for the same money, or less, in the proximate area. **note - after 1 year, they tried to raise my rent by $191 per month! No joke. $191! W O W. Then they wanted to know, "what happened? where did you go? what went wrong?"**__ I moved out of your 1 bedroom, 1 bath apartment, into a 2-story, 2 bedroom, 1.5 bath town-home about 1.5 miles away, and after considering that I now have no charges for water, trash, sewer, parking, pest control, etc., I'm actually saving money and getting MUCH more for it. **note - management will tell you it costs about $25 per month for water, trash, etc., but after a few months it became $50 +/-, & by the time I moved out it was just over $70 per month, increasing every month. You also pay a fee to the company who puts the bill together for you.**__ And obviously, I don't have to worry about someone above/below me anymore, which is another reason why I moved out. Whoever made the decision to put the "hardwood" linoleum/vinyl flooring in 2nd floor units, above other tenants, should seriously be fired. I had a woman move in above me (about 8-9 months after I did), who wasn't skinny or huge, but sounded like a buffalo constantly roaming, after someone made the brilliant decision to change the flooring to this type before she moved in. Her little dog was also a constant irritation, just from walking. Then add in her boyfriend, who moved in later, running across the room at 5:am, sounding like an earthquake. Whoever made the flooring decision, what were you thinking?__ Additionally, I looked at many other local apartments. The nearest major competition, with the same/very similar pricing, has been COMPLETELY renovated. New style textured walls, new (not just cleaned) carpet, washer & dryer inside the unit (not just hookups), and it goes on from there. The interior seriously looks like a newly built home, and it would have cost me the same as staying in your old apartment (not very old looking, but old).__ I understand it's an owners market, but the people setting the pricing for you have no idea what their doing.__ Office staff (******) is nice and competent. However, the manager (****) has absolutely no personality. In all seriousness, I may as well be talking with a computer program. Just put a computer monitor in the office and setup a software program and it'll basically accomplish the same. I wouldn't call her rude though (but maybe close to it). She's really in the wrong line of work (dealing and interacting with people).__ I don't mean to rant or vent, but you should know, compared to your competition, you have some work and funding to do.__ Hope that helps. Take care. **note - Other negative reviews, regarding 1) nickle and diming you, 2) raising rent an outrageous amount after 1 lease term, and 3) high tenant turn over (I'm assuming because of #1 and #2) are all true. Wish I would have read this before I moved in and then had to move out**
Don't try to live there long term. They nickel and dime you every chance they get with New fees or charges. This July there going to charge for parking. At the end of your lease expect a big rent increase. There never happy with what there currently charging for rent. Rent Increases 40% within two years of moving in. If you have a choice don't live here. Building has high turnover because people are priced out. There Policies have made Apts more like an motel full of drifters. AIMCO has a take the money and run attitude.
