Reviews are often based on blunders. How horrible properties are because of them or how amazing they are for avoiding them. But the Villas at Park LaBrea is a prime residential experience in my opinion because of the properties' ability to manage the highs and lows of moving and living with excellent customer service all while delivering quality and luxury living. I moved to Los Angeles from Chicago and a cross country move can be wrought with all kinds of unexpected hiccups, and mine most certainly was. But the Property Manager (Brandy), the Leasing Agent (Betty) and all of the staff that I encountered went above and beyond to ensure that any problems were solved in a timely manner and they were hands on every step of the way to make sure that I transitioned comfortably past the leasing and moving process to enjoying life on the property. The overall resident experience has been great, wonderful amenities, great unit, and again the staff is wonderful! Below are a few specific details... PROS The location is PRIME! One of the very few walkable neighborhoods in LA, so if you don't have a car I highly recommend it, and if you do, the parking prices are competitive, and there is ample visitor parking! The people are very friendly and cordial, making for a wonderful living community. The pool is gorgeous! And open late if you ever want to enjoy night swimming. I never see it overcrowded either which is a plus. I am a bit of an apartment snob admittedly, I was looking for upgrades, amenities, and a clean environment above everything and the Villas delivered! I have a one bedroom, and it was true to size in terms of the website photos and the granite countertops and stainless steel appliances give it a great new sleek look and feel. CONS The laundry facilities are a bit dated, but the property is looking into upgrading both the laundry facilities and the hallways in 2015. The walls are a bit thin so neighbor activities can be heard if you're into silence at night and the morning :) The community is expensive overall, and market rates shoot up every month, but the pricing is competitive in comparison to what's available in the area. Overall, the Villas at Park LaBrea is a renter's dream! I would highly recommend it. Feel free to reach out with additional questions!
This is a great place to live depending on your price range in L.A. It's not cheap, but also not as expensive as the Palazzo. The pool and hot tub are really nice and always perfect temperature and there is always a good mix of people. The clubhouse lounge has a coffee machine (which is free), a upscale meeting room, nice couches, a great gym, and free wifi. The complex is gated and has security which helps keep the place secure but people can still hop fences around the complex so you still have to make sure things are locked up tight when you leave and at night just to be safe if you live on the ground floor. They installed hard wood floors in the living rooms and kitchen which is nice, but the downside is that you can hear the people above you stomping around sometimes. Before they installed the hardwood floors, I couldn't hear anything. Overall a great place to live with a good mix of people and nice looking well kept common areas.
At first glance the apartments look very nice... well kept grounds, clean apartments, sparkling pool. However during my year stay at the Villas I was made aware (via letter) that there had been multiple break-ins. And just last week, someone broke into my apartment through the bedroom window. Luckily nothing was stolen, but for the amount of money I'm spending on this place I shouldn't have to worry about my safety and the security of my belongings.
Overall, great location, great service, great amenities. Bad things are: overpriced (yet seems to rent out well), high increases on contract renewals, had my boxes stolen outside my door.
